One year later, Josh wakes up in a city hospital as a John Doe. His memory is intact but his appearance is altered, his abilities enhanced. With no proof of the cataclysm, no contact with his benefactors, and no identity, he fakes amnesia . . . and questions his sanity.
His beautiful, computer-savvy neuro-ICU nurse, having recently lost her husband, feels empathy for Josh and is drawn to the mystery he represents. They work together to establish his identity, fighting a mutual attraction.
Unable to access the information needed, Josh cleverly creates a counterfeit classified program and uses it to penetrate the highest levels of the military. Once inside, he recruits an elite team to develop the world's most powerful weapon, supposedly to protect mankind. But the more he learns, as the clock counts down to the end of the world, the more he questions who, or what, is behind his resurrection.

ruthhill74Yelm, WAAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Fascinating Christian BookDecember 25, 2013ruthhill74Yelm, WAAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5What an exciting book with a fascinating premise. In fact, a teenager asked me today what I was reading, and just telling him the summary really made even him raise his eyebrows. If you like science, science fiction, and technology, this for you. The author even throws a romance in for good measure, and there are still questions as the story concludes. After all, this is a trilogy. The author has to leave something for you to bring you back!
Although I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and it was very easy to read, I have a couple complaints. Some of the terminology was far beyond my expertise, but I didn't find that it caused me to enjoy the book any less. But there were times I wished I had a better background in science. I also was disappointed in the fact that this claims to be a Christian book, but there is some mild profanity. Those kinds of things always bug me. And I felt that the Christian message did not come across as clearly as it should have. Yes, it is there, but I think the author missed an opportunity to truly embrace the gospel. But I admit that I am grateful for the scientific approach to God that he put forth.
But for any of the minor issues, this is the first in a trilogy that I look forward to reading in its entirety at some point.
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5suspense and an argument for God's existenceDecember 2, 2012bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The plot is not new. There is a comet that is going to destroy the earth. Something needs to be done to change the course of the comet to save the future of mankind. This novel, however, has a few twists I've not seen before.
Navy Commander Josh Logan waits as long as possible to eject from his burning fighter jet. He prevents the jet from crashing into a housing area but dies from the late ejection.
Except that he wakes up a year later in a hospital room with a new body and a new face and hearing a voice that ultimately tells him about the comet and his task of averting it.
Since the comet is not detectable at this time, Josh, now Josh Meadows, cannot go to the government for help. How he manages to get the financing, the personnel, the technology, etc., is quite a story. The author's knowledge of military and governmental operations comes through loud and clear.
The first half of the book I thought a tad bit slow, but in the second half, hang on to your seats! The CIA finds out about the operation and the CIA Director is determined to shut it down. The suspense is great.
Besides the suspense, there were some ideas in this book I found fascinating. While Josh's nurse (for whom he develops affection) is a Christian, Josh is not. He is having a discussion with the voice he hears and the subject turns to the origin of the universe.
Their discussion includes some very insightful ideas. First, the concepts of science at the quantum mechanics level are not intuitive. Scientists are willing to accept particle behavior that is not understandable (such as action at a distance) yet are not willing to accept ideas of origins that are not understandable.
Second, scientists are willing to accept dimensions that are invisible and not detectable, yet are not willing to accept an invisible and non-detectable heaven.
And third, a discussion on a singularity and the origin of the universe. Quantum mechanics says the two states, nothingness and the singularity, could exist at the same time until an observer locked the singularity into reality. (Think of Shrodinger's cat in a box and its possibility of being both alive and dead, until observed to be one or the other.)
I have a degree in physics and have read much on origins and arguments for the existence of God. I have never seen these insights before. Well done, Stevens!
This a fine suspense novel. It also has many ideas worthy of more thought. Interestingly enough, this might be a good book to give to your scientifically savvy unsaved friend. You could then have some very interesting discussions about God and the origin of the universe.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher for the purpose of this review.
FayeAge: 18-24Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Lots of actionNovember 20, 2012FayeAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4A thrilling read!
What an excellent introduction to Mr. Steven's books! I was drawn in from the very first page, and I loved how throughout the action packed sequences I was able to keep up, with the pilot jargon because of Mr. Steven's excellent explanations and descriptions, that didn't take a single beat out of the gravity of the fast moving scenes.
In addition to the action, there was also an emotion struggle to the story because Josh had to make many tough decisions, tearing him away from his old life, and the wife that he loves.
There was excellent dialogue and the characters conversed naturally, with wit and humor.
Overall, a book that pleasantly surprised me, because this isn't usually my kind of book and I had no idea what to expect, and I loved it! There was tons of action and suspense, with a plot that will glue you to the page. A wonderful book for fans of high adventure!

TammimaineAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5A man’s body dies..But the man doesn’t die.November 20, 2012TammimaineAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Hi there!
As you can probably tell, I'm not the normal author of this blog. My mom had me review this book; partly for school, and partly for something different. I didn't mind, the book looked interesting and I was running low on books that I actually wanted to read at the time. Please, this is my first review, so go easy on the criticism.
A man's body dies in a plane crash. But the man doesn't die.
Navy Commander Josh Logan was transporting a new fighter jet to it's new home. The engine catches on fire, and, being too far from any airport to land, crashes in the only uninhabited spot he could find. He wakes up a few days later - plus one year. During this time a voice tells him that he has been chosen to protect all life on Earth from a threat. Armed with only a Captain America-like body and a voice in his head, he must gather the best experts on the planet, avoid overly suspicious government agents, and build the world's biggest weapon; and he has only two years to do it in.
Along the way he meets characters like Elizabeth, a nurse who helps him when he first wakes up; Dr. Lopez, a psychiatrist, and Sir Edward Brandon, a multi-billionaire.
I highly enjoyed this book. I liked the secrecy behind who helped Logan out, the real science scattered throughout the book, and, above all, the action scenes; because I've always enjoyed books and movies more if they have a lot of action. I would give this book four and a half stars out of five.

Stevens in his new book, "Resurrect" Book One in The Resurrect Trilogy series published by Monarch Books brings us into the life of Josh Logan.
From the back cover: Preventing his burning fighter from crashing into a neighborhood, Navy Commander Josh Logan ejects_ too late. Critically injured, he's offered a new life and mission — exploiting highly classified military technology to stop a global cataclysm. The price? He'll be dead to everyone he knows.
A year later, he wakes up in a city hospital with altered appearance and enhanced abilities. Guided by nothing but a voice, he must infiltrate the military-industrial complex, recruit a team and develop the world's most powerful weapon - to protect humanity. The more he learns, the more he questions who, or what, is behind his resurrection, as the clock counts down to the end of the world.
Action, adventure, jet fighters and a slight nod to the old TV series, "The Six Million Dollar Man". Strap on her seat harness and prepare for maximum thrust as David E. Stevens is about to launch us into a world of mystery, deceit and, literally, life-changing events. Among other things going on in this thrill ride story there is a comet that is going to hit Earth with devastating impact unless Logan and his team can stop it. Mr. Stevens barely gives us time to breathe as he whips us along from one plot point to the next. He deftly explains all the science behind the events so that it is easy to understand and follow. The bad news is this book eventually comes to an end. The good news is there will be two more books to round out this trilogy. All I ask Mr. Stevens is that you write quickly. I can hardly wait for further adventure.
