Product Description

Karen Harper, a widow with three young sons, thought she had left her past-and the local gossip-behind when she moved her family from their hometown of Chester to Fredericksburg. But her nightmares about her husband's death and the unhappy last few years of their marriage continue to haunt her.

She desperately craves a second chance at love-and longs for a father for her children. Kevin, a man she meets on the Internet, seems to be the man of her dreams, but can she trust him with the truth? With what really happened the awful day Jeff died?..

Author/Artist Review

Author: Susan Ball

Tell us a little about yourself.  I have been a Christian for more than 40 years. My passion is Girls Ministries, a church-based program to train girls to be godly women who desire to serve God. I am an avid reader and lover of books. In my full-time job, I am a small business consultant, helping people to start or grow their businesses.

What was your motivation behind this project?  For several years I taught in a Christian high school. During my last year, many faculty and students lost loved ones, primarily through natural causes. However, in a couple instances, a family member bore some guilt in their loved one's death. The story came out of praying that these hurting individuals would be able to forgive themselves and move forward with their lives.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I hope that people will realize that nothing is unforgivable. If you've made a decision that lead to tragedy or misfortune, God still loves you and your family still loves you. I pray that readers who have turned their back on God will realize the depth of His love for them and will be restored to fellowship with Him.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  The biggest impact was to truly lean on God. This book was a labor of love from the beginning. My background is math and finance. I never thought of myself as creative, yet God called me to write a novel. Every morning I had my devotions and then sat obediently in front of the computer with great expectation for the words God would give me for that day. It has been an amazing experience.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I've read Janette Oke and Lori Wick for years and love their stories. In recent years, I've preferred writers who are more direct in sharing the gospel in their stories, such as Karen Kingsbury and Francine Riviers.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  God loves you unconditionally. He wants you to accomplish great things for His kingdom. In our own strength we can do nothing. But with God's help, we can change the world.
