The information given is biblical and solid. The families interviewed on the show are beautiful examples for us all. The pace is a little slow, but it is still worth watching. Maybe someday our churches can spend more on widows and orphans, and a bit less on ourselves and our internal programming.

We could not wait to watch it and share it with our extended family. Right away there were comments about the wonderful production value. We already had a heart for adoption but this film opened our eyes to care not only for orphans, but widows also. It was such an encouragement to hear how adoption has blessed these families and to be informed how not all are called to adopt, but all are called to help the widows and orphans in some way. The film was well done and has been such a blessing to our family.

Tell us a little about yourself. I have been married for 23 years to my wife, Lisa, am the father of four children, two of whom are adopted, and have spent most of my adult life in full-time ministry, 16 years pastoral and the past 2 years in music ministry and now making the Rescued the movie project.
What was your motivation behind this project? The deep desire of Wintons Motion Pictures and Hedrick Brothers Productions (both companies run by adoptive families) is to see Rescued in the hands of as many churches and Christian families as possible so that they would be encouraged to consider their role in caring for orphans.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Our hour-long films purpose is to encourage believers around the world to fulfill the scriptural admonition of James 1:27 to adopt and care for orphans.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Being an adoptive father has been such a joy to me personally, but working on the Rescued project let me see how God is moving on the hearts of other believers to also consider the biblical role Christians have in adopting and caring for orphans as a part of fulfilling the Great Commission.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My life has been greatly impacted by the writings of the Reformers. As a filmmaker, the Kendrick Brothers and the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival have been instrumental in helping me to seek excellence in filmmaker with a purpose to help move the hearts of believers to action through the medium of film.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Today, over 130 million children have lost one or both parents, and every 18 seconds, another child in the world becomes an orphan. In America, 107,000 children in the foster care system are currently waiting to be adopted. According to a 2007 report by the Williams Institute UCLA School of Law and The Urban Institute of Washington D.C., an estimated 65,500 adopted children are living with a gay or lesbian parent, and an estimated 14,000 foster children are living with gay or lesbian parents. These staggering statistics should cause Christians to ask some probing questions. What would Christs church look like if we acted upon James 1:27 which says, Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world? Why is it that the church at large doesnt talk much about adoption? How can the church come alongside families who have chosen to adopt? Do adoption and missions have a common thread? This film will attempt to answer those questions. In it you will meet some extraordinary families who will take you on their adoption journeys. You will see how God has worked through adoption to challenge and deepen their faith and dependence on God alone, strengthen their family bonds, defy cultural norms, and give them a firsthand account of Gods incredible love toward us in adopting us into His family and calling us His children. This is a battle against the forces of darkness. Adoption isnt charity, its war.
