Lori Wick's bestselling English Garden series (more than 720,000 copies sold) is filled with engaging characters and stories. Now with fresh, new covers, each of the four books in the series will hold a favorite spot on the nightstand or bookshelf of any reader who loves a great romance.
The Rescue, book two in the series, is set in 1811 England. When Anne Gardiner slips from a ladder into the arms of a stranger, her father, Colonel Gardiner, deems the innocent embrace cause for immediate marriage.
Weston eventually sees that the "marriage" was performed for the Colonel's sake and that Anne had no choice. When he learns that she's sacrificed her own reputation to protect his name, Weston finds himself drawn to Anne.
But will these two guarded people give love a chance? And can they trust God enough to step into a new, real relationship?
Fay Mary FoxsAge: Under 184 Stars Out Of 5Pretty good bookFebruary 14, 2016Fay Mary FoxsAge: Under 18Quality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This was not a bad book! Actually It is pretty good! The one thing I did not like was that Anne was way too vulnerable. When she gets married her husband will not let her out of the house without him or a servant! Of course the book takes place in the victorian era, but still that was a bit much. Other then that this is a great book and I would highly encourage you to read it!
Danielle DerondaAge: 35-44Gender: female1 Stars Out Of 5I wouldn't call it love...Love isn't PREDICTABLE!February 26, 2012Danielle DerondaAge: 35-44Gender: femaleIsn't this the book where the women falls off the ladder and then some new guy catches her and then her mentally unstable father decides that she should marry this stranger?
Eh, I don't know, I read this book in one sitting the day after Christmas when I was about 15. I know this lady thought she would be single forever but then she got married. I mean, I would prefer to read 265 pages about how Lori Wick decided to have oatmeal for breakfast today. That's: 1. More unpredictable 2. More interesting. And finally, it would be more spiritually fruitful to read about.
I would say this book isn't worth the paper it's written on, but I had a lot of fun writing responses to the main man's extremely feminine dialog and actions.
Actually, in the fateful ladder scene, I found myself internally shouting at the man-that-catches to WALK UNDER THE LADDER!!! JUST W-A-L-K UNDER IT, MAN!!! That would be a better outcome.
Lori Wick, take notice.
