It is a serious problem when society misunderstands or disregards sin and repentance. But when the church neglects these doctrines, the impact is profound. This book unfolds the nature and necessity of biblical repentance, but for the church in particular. Roberts' in-depth study heavily references both he Old and New Testaments, and includes chapters on the myths, maxims, marks, models, and motives of repentance, as well as the graces and fruits that accompany it. There is also wise warning about the dangers of delayed repentance.
Pastor DavidMoss Point, MSAge: 35-44Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5You just thought you knew about repentance...March 31, 2015Pastor DavidMoss Point, MSAge: 35-44Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Dr. Roberts provides convicting insight into the spiritual requirements of repentance. I thought I understood repentance, but I now realize how shallow my understanding was. Come to this book with a heart to truly please God with what you will learn, and you will walk away a different person.
CK5 Stars Out Of 5urgently neededDecember 31, 2014CKQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book is urgently needed in the churches of America. It has been so wonderfully challenging to read and apply. This is not a light or shallow treatment of repentance, so get ready to drive deep. Contrary to what one reviewer wrote about the writing style and Roberts actually quoting scripture, instead of just referencing it, I found him to be very helpful! I am one prone to not looking up references, so this made it so I don't have any excuse to not look them up. It's wonderful and worth your time, consideration, and application.
MICKAge: 45-54Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5A much needed reminder of the mandatory needJanuary 14, 2011MICKAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4While it is unfortunate that the author seldom uses the KJV,this work is so foundational that I consider it essential.I will absolutely be recommending it to any and all who want learn of the mandatory nature of repentance. The section starting on page 70 is critical for both the unsaved and the "saved"
Michael V. Baxter4 Stars Out Of 5December 28, 2009Michael V. BaxterThis book helped revitalize the magnitude and full cooperation of my repentance with God. Not only did it reveal to me areas of my life that needed further repentance but it changed our church. My complaints are not of its content but of its writing style and structure. For example, rather than referencing verses for the reader to look up if they be in doubt, the author repeats these verses again and again which slows the thought process and, many times, reduces the impact of its point. My hope is that anyone reading this type of book would already know the Word and merely be able to discuss their full import in another book such as this. I also am disinclined to accept arbitrary divisions of Scriptural Doctrine into seven points. The author divides every chapter or point into seven smaller divisions which may not be so found in Scripture.Yet overall this is a very good book. One can tell that they are reading the words of a devout and godly man. It takes some time to read through, but is well worth the effort.
Rev Don Rice5 Stars Out Of 5May 25, 2009Rev Don RiceIt will be the best book you read this year. This is a book that every one in America needs to read now.It is a clear call to repent as a nation and as a church .
