Good for those with problematic background
This book focus more on problematic youths. If you are a person without problems like teenage pregnancy, abuse, alcohol issues, etc, this book will not appeal to you.
However, if you have had battles with depression, feeling worthless, hopelessness - this book will be a great motivation for you. Reggie talked about how he tackled his future without letting his past drag him down and that is truly inspirational. I hope to hear this man talk in real life one day as he sounds like a professional presentor.

Reggie by Reggie Dabbs
Great Book! Self-help? No. Yes.
No, in that you don't realize that Reggie (the man) is pushing you to excel at YOU. This easy to read book is great for people of all ages. The author uses his life experiences to captivate and engage the reader to push beyond themselves. He also incorporates Biblical truths throughout the book, reminding the reader that their true success will come from God,
Reggie had every excuse not to become a meaningful part of society, but he didn't accept those excuses. Throughout the book, he uses scenarios that the reader can relate to without bringing glory to himself.
This is a should read for every male. I say should read, because in my house if you are told must read, and you're a male, that means it won't happen. I have let my husband know I think this is a great project for he and our teenage son to engage in. At the end of each chapter are discussion points/thought provoking questions. It would also be a great book for a men's group.

REGGIE: because he deserves capital letters!
This is a book about REGGIE. I write his name in capital letters because he deserves it. ItâÂÂs REGGIEâÂÂs life story up until now. ItâÂÂs a message of hope, and a message that a lot of people â Christian and non-Christian â need to hear. ItâÂÂs about how one man, who came into the world in the most unlikely circumstances, changed his life and the life of many because of God. ItâÂÂs about sharing with people that God can use anyone to share with others about how much He cares for and love us, His children.
REGGIE is a wonderful motivator. Throughout my depression/anxiety journey there have been many moments when IâÂÂve felt like IâÂÂm alone, that nobody cares and that IâÂÂm doing life without anyone. REGGIE has reminded me that IâÂÂm not alone, that people, and especially God, cares, and that I have many people who are doing life with me.
REGGIE held my attention throughout this book with his witty manner. The same witty manner that captivates hundreds of school kids in gymnasiums, and thousands (even tens of thousands) of people in auditoriums all around the world.
REGGIE conveys GodâÂÂs message of love in such a way that anyone can get it. I already love God and I now âÂÂre-get itâÂÂ. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book. Whether it be to a mature, new or in-between Christian, or a non-Christian, a staunch non-believer. REGGIE tells it like it is. GodâÂÂs truth about GodâÂÂs love.

A few years ago I was at a Promise Keepers event, in between sessions Reggie Dabbs, conference master of ceremonies was walking around and we talked for a few minutes. Now there was nothing monumental about that discussion as we just shot the breeze, but Hearing him speak to all of the men, one could only see the Light of God in his life. So when I saw that he had written a book about his story I jumped at the chance to review it.
Right on the cover it says: You canâÂÂt change your Past, but you can change your future. What a powerful statement if Christians today would get a hold of that very concept. We are a fallen people but we need to know that we can make a difference for Christ in this world.
The book is mostly stories about Reggie, but to me they were truly engaging. The stories show how Reggie has grown up and also grown in the Lord. Learning that he was adopted at the age of two leads him on his journey. He realized that you cannot change what has happened but you can change what will happen as he leads you through his journey. A powerful speaker too many around the world, the self titled book Reggie is a great read for all, young or old.
I highly recommend this book; it is not a biblical study but has questions that people can work through together. When one truly grabs a hold of the subtitle, âÂÂYou canâÂÂt change your Past, but you can change your futureâÂÂ, the sky is the limit in what you can do in your life for God.
