This book may well be the greatest contemporary treasure of Reformed thought of our time. All of this exceptional collection is edifying. If one were to seek the difference between a typical contemporary perspective on covenant theology and that of historic Calvinism, he could do no better than read Dr. Young's "Historic Calvinism and Neo-Calvinism". The articles on conversion are likely the finest treatment of this subject to come out of the 20th century. In a day where such aspects of inward religion such as self-examination and assurance of grace and salvation are much neglected, Dr. Young enlightens the reader with clear Biblical perspectives on these important doctrines. Such rarely treated subjects as "Original Sin" are drawn out in compelling fashion from the Scriptures. Even such important but rarely mentioned subjects as "How to Address God in Prayer" will cause serious reflection on the part of the reader. Luther said that if one were to confess Christ at every point except at that little point where the world and the devil are at the moment attacking the church, he has not confessed Christ. By that standard Dr. Young may be the most important Reformed theologian of the 20th and early 21st century.
