Product Description

Murray systematically explains the two sides of redemption: its accomplishment by Christ and its application to the life of the redeemed. In Part I he considers the necessity, nature, perfection, and extent of the atonement. In Part II Murray offers careful expositions of the scriptural teaching about calling, regeneration, sanctification, and glorification.

I heard years ago, never read a Christian book less than 10 years old. If it is still considered significant after that amount of time it probably is worth your investment. This book is 55 years old and is a tightly reasoned and persuasive argument for the necessity and the significance of the death of Christ. A true classic. I regret not discovering it sooner. By comparison, it makes most of what is published today seem shallow, subjective, and unrelated to historic Christian orthodoxy.

This is not just a classic. This is a classic to be read by every Christian who has ever wondered how it could be that God saved a sinner. It is without a doubt one of the most uplifting and worshipful books I have ever read.

Murray is an excellent scholar. If your not used to terms like "exegesis" you might take the advice of the earlier poster. But I would not discourage you from a great work because your growing. I would say seek to dig out the jewels of scripture. Murray makes great scriptural arguments. Many of Todays writers have ignored 1 corinthians 1-2 admonition to not add philosophy to scripture. This makes grace to no effect... Id say if you want a solid exegete who lays the arguments out there and examines them in light of scripture not adding todays cultural post modern philosophies you can never go wrong W/ Murray..Leon Morris..John Piper...Spurgeon..Gill and others like that. Sure your brain stretches but arent we supposed to desire the pure milk of the word and grow up in our salvation? 1 peter 2. ?
