This book is so far away from Christianity it is sickening! Halloween is a holiday the Catholic church began in order to placate the pagan rituals of human sacrifice to pagan gods. The very word "Halloween" is to make Holy the pagan ritual of human sacrifices to pagan gods. "Hallow" mean "to make Holy." This is Satan's holiday, and as such, Christians (followers of Christ Jesus) should not allow this pagan holiday to enter their lives, their homes, and especially their hearts. And to teach children that it's "ok" as long as you celebrate it a certain "guilt-free" way, is only advancing the work of satan. The Bible says that what is not of God, is of Satan. It is black and white with no grey areas. You CANNOT just do things "a little differently" and make what is come from evil to be of God. Beware! Please, don't just jump on the bandwagon. Study, and know of a certainty what God would have you do. 2 Timothy says "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth!" Dont listen to the wolf in sheep's clothing. Study, and keep your eyes UP on Jesus, lest ye fall off the path and tumble into the world of darkness. STUDY for yourselves to find the TRUTH from God's Word, for the Bible is our ultimate Book of guidance.

Great reminder that God reigns over every part of creation & culture. Thank you to the authors for taking the time to do what this SAHM doesn't have the time to do: research the rumors!

Author/Artist Review

What was your motivation behind this project?  Like many Christian families, Pam and I have really struggle with the "right" way to handle Halloween. Though we loved it when we were children we were concerned with all the supposed ties to the occult that were being publicized. Our goal was to make choices that were first and foremost honoring to God and second beneficial for our children. In the process, we have tried everthing from running from the holiday to embracing it for outreach. It wasn't until we stopped long enough to discover the real roots of the holiday that we found real freedom in our celebration. We hope that those who read this book will discover that they too can celebrate without selling out by honoring the remarkable historical traditions of Halloween that have their roots deep in the gospel of the Christian church. We don't have to be scared of this holiday when we celebrate it as our spiritual fathers intended: As a day to honor those who gave so much to defend the faith. For those who are interested in truth instead of myths, they will enjoy a brief and factual look back at the beginnings of this holiday, ispiring stories of faith heros who are at the heart of Halloween and 15 original ideas that help families celeberate according to that tradition.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  You don't have to settle for Halloween "alternatives" this year. You can help your children grow in their faith, have fun, and reach out to others will a clear conscience before the Lord. Read and decide for yourself if you want to begin the process of Redeeming Halloween. It will be a lasting legacy for your family. Learn more about us and other resources at For ideas to help you Redeem Christmas, you may wnat to pick up Redeeming the Season, also a Focus on the Family book. We would love to hear your thoughts about either at
