The remnant of Glenrock has been scattered. But they are not beaten.
The Safe Lands have long kept the true meaning of Liberation secret from their people. But after being sentenced to Liberation themselves, Mason and Omar soon discover the truth.
Levi watched his brothers public sentencing and tries to hold out hope they are still alive, He is forced to focus his attention elsewhere, however, when his new wife, Jemma, is captured and made the Safe Lands newest Queen. His only choice to save Jemma may be to take up Omars old role of undercover vigilante, leading the rebels in their quest to overthrow the government. But will Levis new role be enough?
Meanwhile, Jemmas sister, Shaylinn, is ready to give birth to the "Safe Lands" children … but not even Ciddah is sure they can be delivered safely in the midst of a rebellion. And Mason must face the fact Omars illness could be fatal.
If they can all unite their efforts, together they may be able to expose the Safe Lands lies to the people. But if they fail, they will all surely die.

Janna RyanNorth Platte, NEAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Fans of Hunger Games and Divergent...October 24, 2014Janna RyanNorth Platte, NEAge: 35-44Gender: femaleIt isn't often that I truly advocate reading books in order... as in DON'T read this book until you read books #1 and #2 but I would certainly do that in this case. The whole series is AMAZING, but you will be lost if you start here. So AFTER reading #1 and #2 then by all means you will need to dive into Rebels to see what is going on. The characters of Glenrock are wonderful and exciting in their flawed lives as they try and take back the lives they lost when their village was captured. This book may be one of the best third in a series books I have read and it was a bittersweet read knowing that it would end on the last page. But I still raced through it to see what would happen to everyone. No one was left out, we revisit with Mason, Omar, Levi, Jemma, Shaylinn, the twins and many more. At this point I don't know that I can or should say much about the plot line... read the first two books to know what is going on and then just enjoy. If you are a fan of The Hunger Games or Divergent then these need to be on your To Be Read pile!
MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: Female3 Stars Out Of 5Is any land Safe?October 24, 2014MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 4In the third book of Jill Williamson's Safe Lands trilogy, we finally discover the secret of Liberation, along with other surprises. The novel opens rather slowly with more narrative than action, but some exciting scenes do come eventually. New trials await all the major characters we've followed in this series. They are fighting for their lives and their way of life. Rebellion seems to be the only solution to bring about the change they desire. The maturing characters struggle internally and externally as they face threatening situations, trying to maintain hope amidst a dismal outlook. Will the thin plague ever be cured? Can love change lives? Will they escape the false safety of their captivity?
LeAnneGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Rebels by Jill WilliamsonSeptember 30, 2014LeAnneGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5After being sentenced to Liberation Mason and Omar are finally about to find out what that really means. But trying to discover the secret, and still living to tell the people of the Safe Lands what it really is, could be the hard part.
Even though Levi knows his brothers had been sentenced to Liberation he tries to hold out hope they are still alive. But Levi and the others still need to recuse the last of their other people the Safe Lands have captive. Although when his new wife, Jemma, is taken and made the Safe Lands newest Queen he has a new problem to face.
Levi even tries to take up Omar's old role as "The Owl", a undercover vigilante to help save her. They must all work together to show the people of the Safe Lands what their Government has really been doing. Or they will never get home to their village outside the Safe Lands walls.
I have read both of the other books in this series so I was very excited about getting Rebels by Jill Williamson! When the book came out it was great to finally get see what happened next with the characters. And I think this 3rd book was even better than the last one in the series! The details were very well described and it had a lot of surprising twists and turns. And even though the story takes place in a dystopian future it seemed very real. It was a great book and a must read if you have been reading this series!
I received this book free from the publisher, Zondervan, through the BookLook Bloggers book review program. The opinions are my own.
bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: 55-65Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5A quick end to the seriesSeptember 19, 2014bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This is the third and final novel in The Safe Lands series. If you have not read the previous two, you would probably have difficulty following this one.
Most of the Outsiders are living with the Rebels. As they go in to free more women, Jemma is recaptured and taken to the harem. She is found to be already pregnant.
Omar and Mason are sentenced to be liberated and we finally get to find out what that is. We also get to find out a little more about the plague. And the Owl actually takes to the air.
This has been an interesting series taking place in 2088. There have been lots of advanced technical gadgets like SimTags that yield an individual's location and SimSight contact lenses that transmit everything the person sees.
There are also issues covered in this book beyond just the science fiction aspect. One is how our animals are raised and slaughtered. Many of us would not like to think about the conditions animals live in that are destined for our dinner plates.
Another issue is sexual pairing and impregnating. While there is nothing graphic in this novel, just the subject matter and how impregnating females is dealt with by those in authority suggests that this book, and the series, should be read by older teens. The use of addicting substances also makes this suitable only for older teens.
There was a surprising theological issue on this novel. One of the Rebels has a fanatic wife. She abhors technology and will not allow it. Whoever is a friend of the world is an enemy of God. The technology of the devil is not allowed... (151) Wow. I can see some interesting discussions about that topic in a teen reading group. A discussion guide has been included.
This is a great series for older teens. The characters are well developed and have matured over the eight months as they have faced life's temptations and challenges. Some have succumbed while others have remained steadfast.
This novel provides an exciting end to the series. Can the Outcasts manage to reveal the lies and free the people?
I received a complimentary copy of this book in conjunction with the CSFF Blog Tour for the purpose of an independent and honest review.
LalaAge: 18-24Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Epic Conclusion!September 16, 2014LalaAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I can't believe this series is over! Can I take a moment and admit that I have might have teared up when finishing up the last chapter? "Rebels" was a GREAT conclusion, but I'm so sad to see these characters go! They have all been through a lot, but they still held onto their faith or found faith through it all!
In "Rebels" Jill tied up all the loose ends from book two and finally revealed what liberation was! Gasp! I had an idea of what it might be and was sort of right, but didn't quite realize the full extent of it all! Plus there were even a few twists thrown in there that kept me on the edge of my seat!
Aswith the second novel in the series, "Outcasts," there was another gentle spiritual message weaved throughout this one. I really love the redemption theme as well as loving others who hate/don't love us. Jill did a wonderful job of fully showing just what that means too!
Despite the sadness I felt at the end because these characters stories are done being told, I loved the adventure this novel took me on! It was awesome to see the journey of these three brothers and their growth spiritually, emotionally, and in relationships/friendships. So glad I was able to read this entire series and recommend it to older teens. It's sure to give the reader an adventurous time!
