song, movie, book, TV show, blog, and game is full of ideas ideas about truth,
morality, beauty, identity, faith, and more. Not all of these ideas are true. Some
are wrong, some are deceptive, and some are outright destructive. It is more
important than ever that young children be equipped to discern among competing
ideas and stand in the truth. This is why Apologia has teamed with Summit
Ministries to bring you the "What We Believe" Series.
The "What We Believe" Series is an outstanding way to teach your child the
essential beliefs of the Christian faith, but it's so much more With this student-
directed, Bible-based curriculum, your children will learn how to use Scripture as
a lens through which to view the world around them to see everything the way
God sees it and know the truth.
Homeschooling mother and award-winning novelist
Instruction in apologetics and worldview is sadly lacking among Christian youth, and thats probably why so many fall away from their faith after high school. Who Is God? is a sort of moral flashlight to illuminate the source of truth for young people everywhere. In an increasingly dark world, this book will be much appreciated by parents, homeschoolers, and any ministry that cares about young people. Get it and read it with your kids. I am.
Author and editor of Oliver Norths American Heroes

A tapestry of challenging questions, exciting stories, solid biblical teaching, and wise counsel. This series will bring adventure and fun back into learningfor the whole family.
Author of Someday Heaven
Who Is God? helps parents help children ask the most important question that could ever be asked. More important still, it answers that question with uncompromising biblical fidelity. A powerful tool in helping parents to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

It has been everything I hoped to have in a Bible curriculum. The chapter titles clearly detail the study. The narrative style, appropriate stories, subtopics, and the worldview studies have all been excellent. There is plenty of Scripture covered in each chapter, which includes the "Hide it in Your Heart" feature. My favorite feature is the Worldview study at the end of each chapter. The topics are appropriate for the age level, but very thorough! We are tackling worldview materials that most curriculum never cover. I like having both a Bible study and Worldview study in one book. I look forward to continuing these studies. Not the same old Bible stories material at all! There are deep truths in this material.

Both my son and myself thoroughly enjoyed this study. The text brought up worldviews and challenged our thinking in a straightforward way. This study is biblically based and allows the reader to compare his/her beliefs to whom God is and what He has done for us. The inter-active journal is also a fantastic resource, though you need to plan a good amount of time to insure it is completed. (we used it for a writing grade in addition to other writing assignments) The journal allows for drawing, creating of mini books, etc. and our son chose to use the Praise Report as an opportunity for song writing! Thank you to all who created this! God Bless.

We love it! It is her favorite subject! I wasn't sure about getting the journal, but I am very glad I did. She loves the activities in it, and it has a very handy outline at the beginning which separates it into lesson plans. I would highly recommend both if you are homeschooling. High quality as well as solid, Biblical teaching.

I had planned to use it as a daily Bible curriculum for my kids. My issue with the curriculum is that it is very difficult to figure out how to divide this up for daily use. The way the chapters are organized made it tough to do just the right amount/day. It would have felt too heavy on some days. It was just too much prep work for me to work this out for a 175 day school year. I'm not going to use it and have found another option for my kids.
Q: Suggested age? What ages is this program recommended for?

Tell us a little about yourself. I am a father of six children, all of whom have been taught at home. Though I currently work as a freelance writer and editor, and I have more than a dozen years' experience in Christian publishing at the management level.
What was your motivation behind this project? The project was born out of a crying need among homeschooling families for a quality curriculum to help them instruct elementary-age children in a biblical worldview as well as the fundamental beliefs of the Christian faith. Our publisher, Apologia, has published many wonderful science textbooks for Christian families and schools, and they sought us out to help them expand their offerings to include a series of full-color textbooks on worldview. Who Is God? (And Can I Really Know Him?) is the first in a series of four books.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? John and I hope that these books will change the way children and their families look at the world each day. In a world of competing ideas, these books are designed to help children learn to discern the truth by using Gods Word as a lens through which to view the world around them -- to see everything the way God sees it. We pray that these books will bring the world, its Creator, and His amazing love into clearer focus for parents and their children, helping them to build an unshakable faith to last a lifetime.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I have been tremendously blessed by the project, which has required me to approach God anew with a childlike faith. It's not easy to describe His wonders and beauty and mysteries using only a fifth-grade vocabulary, but I did my best. Now it's in the hands of the Holy Spirit to use as He sees fit.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I hesitate to mention the names of friends and colleagues for fear of omitting someone. However, among contemporary authors, I am particularly fond of the works of Kathleen Norris, Mark Buchanan, Jan Karon, and Ken Gire. Jack Hayford has been a huge influence on my life.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Our publisher, Apologia, is well known for its customer support, and this product will prove no exception. Parents and teachers who will be using these books as curriculum will have free access to extensive teaching helps and supplemental materials posted on the Apologia website.
