Reading God's Story takes that clear narrative approach to the Bible, arranging the complete text into a fresh chronological reading plan developed for the Read the Bible for Life biblical literacy initiative. In this plan the books, chapters, and verses of the Bible are thoughtfully arranged so readers can track the story of Scripture, day by day, from beginning to end, understanding the flow of events and how all the different parts fit together to make sense.
Reading God's Story features two-color interior page layout and is organized into 52 weeks of readings (six readings per week). It presents Scripture in three main acts (God's Plan for All People; God's Covenant People; God's New Covenant People) and seventeen total scenes, providing an introduction for each act and scene to orient the reader to its importance in the grand story. Unlike other chronological Bibles, this arrangement is not date specific (e.g. "January 1"), so a person can begin using this edition at any point in the calendar year.
George H. Guthrie, author of Read the Bible for Life, is the Benjamin W. Perry Professor of Bible at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. He helped establish and is now a Senior Fellow at Union's Ryan Center for Biblical Studies, which is committed to promoting sound Bible reading, study, and interpretation at the grassroots level of the church. Guthrie has also participated in developing or revising several popular Bible translations including the HCSB, English Standard Version, and New Living Translation.
Kurt Meyer4 Stars Out Of 5Missing IndexAugust 10, 2015Kurt MeyerQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4In general, I like this chronological Bible. I have the digital version as well as the hardback. I am disappointed that the digital version does not have an index like the hardback does. I haven't tried reading it in my tablet yet, but using FBReader under Linux, I'm not able to search for specific passages of scripture, so an index would have been very helpful.
Kurt Meyer5 Stars Out Of 5Enjoying So Far...Wish It Was Available in Genuine LeatherApril 27, 2015Kurt MeyerQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I'm enjoying this Bible so far. I've just begun reading it and have gotten as far as Jacob in the book of Genesis. This Bible reads almost like a novel. The words haven't changed, just the format. I would have much preferred the Bible in genuine leather though. Hopefully, one will come out in the future.

As a long time Bible reader, I have wanted one like this for quite a while, just to help my understanding of the timelines. I have liked the IPAD version because I can take it with me and adjust the font. The only thing I don't like, is that I cannot mark where I am. It says, "Check here when you complete the days reading" but nothing checks. Thankfully, when I open it, it opens to the correct place. However, I would like to be able to actually know where I am. I also really like that it is laid out by day and week, not by month. So I could start it as soon as I got it and not wait until January.

The events are in the order that they happened. Different books of the Bible are mingles to put the events in order. You can not take it to church to use because of this. It is a great tool. It explodes your Bible and you understand it so much more.
