I bought this bible for my nephew who has had trouble understanding the bible. He has not told me what he thinks, but I have also bought it for two of my daughters, and I know for sure it makes reading the bible more understandable to them. Also I bought this bible without all the notes, so they could concentrate on sitting and just reading for now. I figure when they have filled themselves with the written word, then they will be able to get the one with the notes to study more thoroughly what they already know.

The cover has a very nice leathery feel and texture, I understand now why many of my friends say "When you get a Genuine leather Bible you don't want to put it down". This Bible lays flat while reading, I've found this to be very helpful when studying or while comparing different translations. The Reader's Edition would be a good choice for devotional reading or study, because of the text size and the condensed translators' notes. Personally I find the translators' notes to be very interesting and helpful, giving a deeper understanding in to the possible translations.

The binding of this Bible is awesome! Maps amazing! But I have a complaint, when I got it I started reading in Matthew and I found an unusual slant where it says for example in other translations, Jesus knowing their thoughts...
In the Net for example in Matthew 9:4 it says,When Jesus saw their reaction...
I don't know why, but while this Bible does a lot for the deity of Jesus, I caught that in various places in Matthew, that removing of Jesus knowing their thoughts to a downplay.
I have no idea why.
It made me so sad.

The Reader's edition fits that which it was designed for very well, an easy to carry, easy to read Bible.
I am a bit concerned that the product description speaks of the over 60,000 footnotes that the NET has, but it must be carefully stated that the Reader's Edition does not have them all, it has a subset of about 7,000 translators notes.
That is what the person gives up to get the smaller size and larger print.
So if you want the full set of footnotes then you should purchase the regulare NET Translation, if you are looking more for a Bible to carry and read but not so much for in depth study then the Reader's Edition is for you.

Though I have the genuine leather edition of the NET Bible with all the great study notes I also wanted the same translation in an easier to carry and read edition. This Reader's Edition, genuine leather fits the bill! The leather is a soft, pliable, shallow grain, the binding stitched, the type larger and easier to read. Because the Reader's Ed. has fewer study notes this edition is also much slimmer and lighter. Once again I'm impressed with the NET version and the quality of their genuine leather Bibles!
