Take a wonder-filled journey with Jesus and His disciples.
Animated straight from the pages of the popular Read and Share® Bible, The Jesus Series introduces children to the life of Christ. Unlike the 3-minute, bite-size story format of the Read and Share® DVD Bible Volumes 1-4, this DVD is an uninterrupted half-hour presentation of Jesus' ministry along the shores of Lake Galilee and the villages near Nazareth. Children will see Jesus call His disciples, feed 5,000 people, heal the sick, teach about Gods kingdom and introduce the Lords Supper.
This DVD completes The Jesus Series by presenting the life of Christ in a way that little ones can understand and build a solid foundation on.
Mary Joy PershingAge: 35-44Gender: female2 Stars Out Of 5Entertaining but stories are embellishedFebruary 3, 2011Mary Joy PershingAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 2Value: 2Meets Expectations: 2It was entertaining for the most part. But I have to admit that I was disappointed. From the description that is given for the DVD, I was under the impression that it was going to give accurate Bible stories to help introduce young children to some very important Bible stories.
Many of the stories they share are accurate...but a few were embellished to make them more acceptable and easy for the children to hear. The embellishment that stood out to me was the story of when Jesus went back to his home town after beginning his teaching ministry. In the DVD, it shows Jesus reading the Scriptures to his friends, family and neighbors in the synagogue and annoucing that the passage about the coming Messiah was happening right then through him. Instead of the people getting upset and thinking he was crazy and chasing him out of town, the priests were upset and walked out but everyone else cheered and celebrated with Jesus.
We have chosen not to share this DVD with our children because we don't want them to become confused by what is presented as true Bible stories about Jesus' life and miracles.
There are stories about Jesus' life that were shared that were done accurately and were quite enjoyable...they also included a CD ROM tool that gives lots of coloring pages for the stories that are included in the DVD. Our children are enjoying coloring some of these...and I am using them to tell them the Bible stories that go with them.
But sadly the embellishments that were made on some of the stories makes this DVD one that I do not recommend as a solid Bible introduction for children.

CY3 Stars Out Of 5July 19, 2010CYThis DVD , animated straight from the pages of the popular Read and Share Bible, The Jesus Series introduces children to the life of Christ. I'm not a Christian and I have never introduced Jesus and Bible stories to my children before. So I was excited to receive this as I think it is a good introduction to them. At the same time I was worry if the kids will find it boring, as this is not like other children program e.g. Barney or Mickey Club House. There are actually 4 short stories combined together in the half-hour presentation which tell about Jesus' ministry along the shores of Lake Galilee and the villages near Nazareth. Children will see Jesus call His disciples, feed 5,000 people, heal the sick, teach about Gods kingdom and introduce the Lords Supper. The stories actually have been simplified and the words used are easy to understand. The story moved along in good pace too to hold the interest from the kids. I watched it together with my 4 years old daughter and 2 years old son. Both of them paid full attention to it during the half-hour presentation and my daughter even requested want to watch it again and again. Some people may find the stories too simplified but I found it just right for the young toddlers, especially as an entry to the Bible stories. The quality of the video is good too and I myself enjoy watching it. A complimentary copy of this DVD was provided to me for review through Thomas Nelson's Booksneeze program.
Kellie Wimberly5 Stars Out Of 5July 13, 2010Kellie WimberlyThe Read and Share DVD Bible series (vol. 1-4 & Life and Miracles) are wonderful to use with preschoolers at church. I use them as a supplement with our Bible lessons. Most of the Bible stories we teach the kids are on one of the DVDs. It is a great way to enforce their lesson and the kids love them! It holds their attention really well. The Life and Miracles is my favorite because I think it is so important for our kids to know the things Jesus did and taught since we are to exemplify Him.
