After reading the rave 5 star reviews for this book, I bought one to preview before buying a bunch to give to pregnant, mommas-to-be.
Was not what I was expecting. I was looking more for a help and guide book. But this reads more like a memoir, sharing her experiences in the first years of her children's lives. I was disappointed that I had to read the same points over and over again. I would get to the next chapter, and think to myself, I have already read about this! How many times can she write about how she met her husband in one book? I guess it's a good for practicing reading comprehension, but bad if you are not needing the practice.
One positive was in the back, a list of additional books to read on certain mothering topics.
I am in the middle of this book right now and I have enjoyed it very much. I appreciate how Trish is always pointing to scripture as our guild in motherhood. The book is written very well (easy to pick up and put down as needed). I will probably check out more writings by this author.
Trishs charming writing style makes parenting sound like fun, and problems solvable. The book is filled with insightful and sometimes humorous, sometimes touching, stories about her own family (she is mom to 4) and things other moms have told her.She offers so many good things in this book, like Mommy Truth No. 5 You will make mistakes, and goes on to write I see true love and compassion in my childrens eyes. One chapter to put into practice is Discovering Camp Palooza: Finding Fun In the Everyday. If you have a question for parenting babies, answers are here. How to establish good relations with in-laws. Whether to work outside the home. This is a great book for new parents to read.
Trish Berg wrote a Palooza kind of book. Rattled is something outstanding of its own kind. It is a study of the leap of faith called motherhood. Her train of thoughts through the maze of motherhood makes her and her book instant girlfiend material. Even grandmas can take a trip down memory lane to those days of being rattled without losing their mind. It is a great Mother's Day gift. I want to buy one for my daughter and include photos of my "been there and done that" days.
