Product Description

Author David Currie grew up convinced that one day all true Christians will suddenly be snatched up to heaven, the unfortunate souls left behind by this "rapture" will endure seven horrible years of tribulation, at the end of which Christ will return to earth for a glorious thousand-year reign. Today, millions of Christians accept this end-times theology, assuming - as Currie did - that the Bible clearly teaches it. Many plan their whole lives around it. But, after studying Scripture for decades, Currie has come to see that if you accept the Bible, you have to reject the rapture. In these remarkable pages - which constitute the world's most careful and thorough scriptural study of the rapture - Currie demonstrates why. He considers all the relevant verses (and there are hundreds!) and explains them in the light of ancient history, the writings of the earliest Christians, and the claims of rapturist theologians. With painstaking thoroughness, he unlocks the meanings of the key biblical prophecies that culminate in Christ's Messianic Kingdom - including those verses in Daniel, Matthew, and Revelation that rapturists turn to most.

Publisher's Description

Today, millions of Christians believe that that in the end-times, holy souls will be snatched up to heaven, and the impious left behind. And they think that the Bible clearly teaches this.

After studying Scripture for decades, author David Currie has come to see that if you accept the Bible, you have to reject the rapture. In these remarkable pages -- which constitute the world's most careful and thorough scriptural study of the rapture -- he shows why. He considers all the relevant verses (and there are hundreds ) and examines them in the light of ancient history, the writings of the earliest Christians, and the claims of rapturist theologians.

Marshalling evidence that's as startling as it is compelling, Currie argues that these prophecies of war and tribulation don't point to some still-unrealized apocalyptic future.

There seems to be a major division of those who believe in a Rapture and those who don't. I got away from the teachings of man and their methods of interpretation. And I started to study this subject more than 30 years ago with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Jesus never taught a Rapture. Instead he taught the opposite. The sons and daughters of Satan will continue with the righteous until the very end when there will be a separation of the wheat and the tares. Rapturists don't like this teaching because it goes against the theory taught to them convincingly from the platform of religious businesses, especially those who have profited from this false teaching.

    There is NO so-called "Rapture"

    The Klavers
    Patricia and Eileen,

The Bible DOES NOT teach the doctrine of the so-called "Rapture." The only verse that even remotely comes close to supporting such an error is 1 Thess. 4:16-17, and if you read it in the context of the entire chapter and the entire book, it QUICKLY loses such a meaning. You two would do well to STUDY the Bible in the least, since you clearly never have and are merely swallowing hook, line, and sinker the myths and fables that your favourite ear-tickling (false) prophecy teachers are spewing.

I myself used to be a Dispensationalist until I started reading and studying God's Word. The first thing to fall apart was the so-called "Rapture," followed by the so-called "Great Tribulation," and so on. Since you have no scholarly expertise whatsoever to lend to the issue, don't be trying to debunk something you have obviously NEVER studied on your own.

In fact, I'll help you with a small, quick study. Rapturists use Rev. 3:10 to support the rapture. The Greek for "keep...from" is "tereo...ek." The word "tereo" is found twice in this verse. "Tereo...ek" is also found in John 17:15, and "tereo" is also found in John 17:6, 11, and 12. Further, it is found twice in John 15:10, "If you keep (tereo) My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept (tereo) My Father's commandments, and abide in His love," and John 15:20, "Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept (tereo) My word, they will keep (tereo) yours also."

Rapturists claim the word "keep" in Rev. 3:10 refers to the rapture. Let's apply common sense to that by considering its usage elsewhere in Scripture. The fact is, Rev. 3:10 was fulfilled literally in history: "This promise was literally and verbatim fulfilled. Philadelphia was the only church in the seven which escaped unscathed from the persecutions of Trajan; and the reason which philosophers assigned and historians have stated is, that Philadelphia was subject to earthquakes; and the Roman emperor, with all his sanguinary cruelty, was afraid to go there himself, or to trust his generals and his armies in a place so dangerous. No doubt this was the secondary cause, which many modern philosophers worship; but the secret of Philadelphia's safety was the first great and glorious reason that Christians trust in - that Jesus had recorded it as his truth. ‘I will keep thee from the hour of temptation, that shall come upon all the world.'"

The rapture is based on an arrogant Western presumption that God must first rapture the American church before persecution comes, even though He never did it for the early Christians, Christians during the Dark Ages, Christians in the Middle East, or Christians in Communist countries. Are American Christians more important to God than African Christians? Chinese Christians? Russian Christians? Middle Eastern Christians? Many pew-sitters seem to think so. They will not say it in proper words, but it is a fair inference to make based on their erroneous extra-biblical beliefs. The "Rapture" is a recent doctrinal concoction. it is nothing more than a fairy tale fable for those who are ashamed of Jesus Christ and being persecuted for His name's sake.

While I disagree with Currie's stance as a Catholic, and the many erroneous beliefs they stand on, nevertheless he has done a wonderful job disproving the so-called "Rapture." Hopefully my book will be available soon to help walk the lay person through the Scriptures and allow them to see the truths with their own eyes rather than having some false teacher TELL them what a verse supposedly says when a plain reading of that verse DOES NOT support their interpretation.

For those reading this, you are commanded to be like the noble Bereans and to "STUDY...rightly dividing the Word of truth" (2 Tim. 2:15). Studying the Bible is not for Pastors and Theologians. They are not perfect, nor are then infallible. They do make mistakes and often teach based on their pre-suppositions. As Christians who LOVE the Lord Jesus Christ, our God, we are to CONFORM ourselves and our beliefs to the truths of Scripture NO MATTER how we were raised or what we were taught. Tradition, pre-suppositions, feelings, and personal opinions DO NOT trump the truths of the Bible. When the Apostle Paul, the greatest Christian ever, taught the Bereans, they searched the Scriptures to see if what he said was true. YOU, dear Christian, are to do NO LESS when you read a book or listen to a sermon. Just because your Pastor says it DOES NOT make it true. "Let God be true and every man a liar."

    God bless!

God did not leave us clueless, as apparently David Currie is, and say that kindly. God tells us in the Bible that two distinct and separate events will occur: First, the signless Rapture of the church from the earth will happen and we shall all be "caught up" IN THE AIR to be with the Lord. The Lord comes back FOR His church. The Second event is when Christ returns WITH His church and His feet touch the ground at the Mount of Olives "and the mountain shall split in two...".Perhaps David Currie should first come forward and repent of this false doctrine he is presenting as truth, ask the Lord's forgiveness for calling Jesus a liar, ask to be saved and invite the Lord into his heart, and let the Holy Spirit come to indwell him and then, let the Holy Spirit interpret the scriptures FOR him.David - it is called the "LIVING" WORD for a reason, obviously you are not saved and therefore anything you have to say about the Lord will be inaccurate.

This author, David Currie, has allowed the scriptures to speak for themselves, as it should be. To test your "rapture" theory, you should be able to hold it up against the "LIGHT" of "all" scripture, as he does. If the truth makes you uncomfortable, perhaps you should start listening to the "Word of God" over that of people.

This book is so out of context and inaccurate scripturally. Don't waste your money. The Bible is so very clear that there WILL be a Rapture ... BEFORE the Tribulation. This author needs to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide him in to all truth (the truth sets you free). After this, he needs to restudy the Bible. What an end-times deception this book is!!
