Sally John tells a story filled with human anguish and deep struggles. Her characters, especially Sheridan, are well rounded and endearing to readers. The storys plot may at first resemble a tale too often visiteda woman falling in love with another man because her marriage has grown stale. However, Johns story is surprisingly refreshing and completely upholds biblical truths of faithfulness in marriage.
Ransomed Dreams shows the stark reality of a woman forced to live a life she never would have chosen. Sheridan must learn to listen for Jesus, as her mother always told her. Verses such as Jeremiah 33:3Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not knoware clearly reflected here. Readers of this book will not only enjoy a good story, but they may also learn valuable truths along the way. Ruth Anne Burrell, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
BookwormAge: 25-345 Stars Out Of 5LOVED this incredible storyJuly 3, 2013BookwormAge: 25-34The opening scene of this book (in the prologue) captured me. Sheridan finds herself face down in the dirt, being held to the ground, and staring at her broken watch that reads twelve minutes, thirty-five seconds past ten o'clock. Her husband lays beside her, his shirt turning crimson red.
I couldn't put this book down. I loved the setting (mexico) and believable characters. Sheridan is so easy to relate to, and so human. She experiences conflicting emotions that I feel any woman would feel in situations she experiences - though many wouldn't admit to it.
The characters were real, the family relationships were complex, and the emotions were raw. I loved every second of this book and highly recommend it.
HomeSchool Mom of 4The Hot Dry DesertAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A poignant, touching readJune 4, 2013HomeSchool Mom of 4The Hot Dry DesertAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I just finished reading this book and was captivated by it. The characters seem like real, flawed people who just want to do what's right but are thrust into the middle of a situation that seems impossible. The setting is a small, cozy town in Mexico. It's an intriguing story and I loved the characters... well, most of them. The main character, Sheridan, is living with a husband who is not at all the man she married and finds herself in love with someone else. The reader really doesn't know what choice she'll make until she actually makes it. A poignant, touching read.
Virginiaupstate NYAge: 35-44Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5An okay bookApril 21, 2013Virginiaupstate NYAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Sheridan is married to an ambassador to Venezuela. When both are injured, they hide out in Mexico. Sheridan then goes to Chicago, where her estranged father is dying. She must deal with several relationships while there.
This is a decent book, but I was rather bored with the storyline. Don't know why but I had a hard time sticking with the book. I am glad all the secrets hinted at during the book were revealed at the end.

JohnSan Diego, Ca.Age: Over 65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Great ReadNovember 4, 2011JohnSan Diego, Ca.Age: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Continued to hold my interest. Well written. Wonderful relationships between characters although could get "testy" at times. I could just feel the locations the sisters went and lived: tiny Mexican mountain town, Chicago, etc.
