a friend and i watched it together and we agreed there were good, redeeming qualities, but also some negatives. it really depends on what your particular message to your family is. on the positive side, it is about a family that really loves each other (dad, mom and three girls, ages 15, 9 and an infant). there is much humor in the family, including the nickname 'beezus'. the eldest girl, named after aunt beatrice, got this name because her sister ramona could not pronounce her given name. the production, directing, acting are excellent. but the film has the feel of a conservative, but not Christian tv movie. although there is no witchcraft, foul language, sexuality or violence and boasts a G rating, the world view is somewhat secular. at one point beezus laments 'who could love a girl named beezus'? her sister ramona responds, 'Jesus'? if the scene was handled with the poignance and reverence it desreved , it would have been a wonderful comment. but beezus tells her to get out of her room and you are left with the feeling that ramona only said it because the two names rhyme and that the producers have no reverence for His Name at all. aunt beatrice is in what seems to be an ill advised relationship with her manipulative former high school flame who has come back to claim her. bad message for young girls, who seem to be the main target of the film. beezus and her long time male friend are starting to realize they have grown up feelings for each other. this plays out as they dance (fast and slow ) together at the end, as do all the cast members in a big finale. ramona is trying hard to find out who she is and is very imaginative and energetic. this plays out in rebellion at one point as she empties a tube of tooth paste into the bath room sink and leaves it there (in front of her dad) with no seeming consequences. ramona's imagination is seen, at several places in the film, in a blown up, over the top way, showing how she actually sees it in her little mind (the fear and over stating of the circumstances). it is an excellent film technique that shows how a young mind often works. children see the world very different from adults and that aspect of the film is probably it's greatest asset. it's a cute film and was entertaining for us two adults, but i would say it's more PG than G for the mixed messages. i intended to give it to a friend with children, but it's not a 'keeper'. as always, i wish the best for all the families out there in the choices they're making for there viewing. : )

This movie was excellent for the whole family. We enjoyed every minute of it. There was no foul language. A nice American family with a traditional mom & dad who love each other. The actors were terrific & each person was well picked for their part. It is full of funny parts and will make you laugh! I would recommend this movie for any family setting or any youth group fun night. It is not necessarily 'Christian' in content, but is a safe, fun, refreshing movie.
