Christian families are struggling in a culture hostile to Christian values, and increasingly find themselves searching for answers and strategies to be more effective. Parents also face a disturbing trend of young people leaving home and leaving the church - and want to insure their children have a strong foundation of biblical faith and understanding. Discover how to create an incredible faith legacy in your family! Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World presents empowering insight for:
- Surviving the culture wars as a family
- Educating children - the Bible offers guidance
- Practical tips for raising spiritually-healthy children
- Solutions to the root cause of dysfunctional families
- Discovering biblical authority as a parent
- Discipline - necessary and lovingly administered
Ken Ham is joined by his brother, Steve Ham, in presenting this powerful look at how the principles and truth of Genesis are vital to the strong and lasting foundation of a family. Sharing their own stories of growing up in a "Genesis" family and sharing this legacy within their own families, it is an intensely personal and practical guide for parents.
Ken Ham is the president/CEO and founder of Answers in Genesis - U.S. and the highly acclaimed Creation Museum. Ken Ham is one of the most in-demand Christian speakers in North America. Ken's emphasis is on the relevance and authority of the book of Genesis and how compromise on Genesis has opened a dangerous door regarding how the culture and church view biblical authority. His Australian accent, keen sense of humor, captivating stories, and exceptional PowerPoint illustrations have made him one of North America's most effective Christian communicators.
Steve Ham serves as senior director of outreach for Answers in Genesis, overseeing the 250 conferences and other events that AiG typically holds each year. This oversight also includes AiG's international division, Answers Worldwide, which includes speaking tours overseas and a translations ministry (more than 75 languages). The younger brother of AiG President Ken Ham, Steve joined AiG in 2009.

RachelTulsa, OklahomaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5True to form, the Ham brothers point readers straight to the unshakable Word of God.September 29, 2014RachelTulsa, OklahomaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World" is another success for publisher Master Books (a division of the New Leaf Publishing Group, Inc.). Brothers Ken and Steve Ham team up to encourage believers to be confident that God has given them all they need to be successful parents. True to form, the Ham brothers point readers straight to the unshakable Word of God. They use their personal experiences growing up in the Ham family to share practical advice on how to leave a legacy for your children.
Its no surprise that Ham Senior held fast to the Word of God as mans final authority, including its record of origins and creation. Ken Ham grew up during a time in which very little scientific evidence was mainstream to support the creation account. When his dad was unable to answer Ken's questions, Ham Senior encouraged Ken that his lack of answers didn't mean there were no answers. Kens father clearly understood that if Adam wasn't created from dust, and that if he didn't fall into sin as Genesis states, then the gospel message of the New Testament cant be true either (p.19). This assurance led Ken on the journey that has become the internationally reaching Answers in Genesis ministry.
Through their personal stories and practical suggestions, the Hams empower parents to go against the flow of the world and be accountable for what their children are learning about life and truth. They expound upon the idea of having the Bible as an axiom, the central point around which your beliefs and ideas revolve. This is essential to gain the confidence in Gods grace you need to raise your children in truth. The Hams point out it is totally inconsistent to insist on a biblical foundation, but at the same time accept mans fallible views about the universe and life or somehow try to mix them together.
This book will challenge you, encourage you, and bless you. It will grow your confidence in Gods ability to use you to parent your children and help you rely more fully on His grace. The only eternal substances you can take with you after death are the souls of people. Although you cannot take your car, boat, house, or bank account, you can take your children with you. So are your priorities and actions reflecting this fact? Are you investing your time and efforts in your childrens training in truth or in other momentary possessions? Two questions that challenged me were, You might know what psychologists, pastors, or your parents say; but do you know what God says in His Word? and, Could you write down clear biblical guidelines for raising your children? (p.82, 83).
In addition to supplying excellent information, the book provides useful tools at the end of each chapter to help the readers retain and apply what they have learned. There is a recap of key thoughts as well questions to provoke parents into assuming an active role in the legacy they will leave to their children. Also included are resources to equip parents to accomplish the mandates set forth in the chapter.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book for any Christian who is or may someday be a parent.
RaisingGodlyChildrenOrgGreenfield, INAge: 25-34Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Your Children are a gift and an EntrustmentDecember 3, 2011RaisingGodlyChildrenOrgGreenfield, INAge: 25-34Gender: maleQuality: 4Value: 4God's Word needs to be our primary parenting manual...and if for some reason we were to find ourselves with no other guide, His Word would again prove itself to be entirely sufficient. (51) This thesis, was penned by author Steve Ham in the book Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World. Steve Ham, along with his more "famous" brother Ken Ham of the (Creation Museum and Answers in Genesis) ministries, have together written a book built upon the foundation of God's Word, along with the Biblical lineage they were raised in.
The Ham brothers do an excellent job not only explaining (biblically) the parents role in raising their children, but they also offered numerous personal stories and events which helped mold them into mature believers, through the efforts of their parents. All you have to do is look at the fruit of the Ham brother's lives to realize how "effective" their parents were in raising them up Godly, in the ungodly secular country of Australia. Mr. Ham (Steve and Ken Ham's Father) who passed away in 1995, was a man devoted to raising Godly children in an ungodly world. I challenge every man reading this book to imitate Mr. Ham and impart the same biblical foundation which he built his children upon.
Here are some of the things I really liked about the book:
1. The personal stories that the Ham brothers share. It's always great to hear "testimonies" from children who were raised by Godly parents.
2. The resources at the end of the chapter. Many of the chapters discuss apologetics, proper hermeneutics, and exegesis and provide rich resources to help equip parents to rightly divide the word of truth.
3. Devotional questions at the end of each chapter. The "key thoughts from this chapter", "questions to consider" and "resources and tools" make this book a great resource to study in a small group setting.
4. This book is filled with God's Word. Every chapter is built upon the foundation of scripture.
Here are some key thoughts you will be presented in this book:
Why is the family disintegrating?
What is a godly legacy and why is it vital to our families and our society?
How do you create a family environment for spiritual growth?
How are we to implement godly discipline and teach our children discernment?
Should all children be home schooled?
In conclusion, Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World is an excellent book which should be on the bookshelf of every pastor and parent who is serious about raising Godly children. From the personal stories, resources, devotionals, to the Word being rightly divided, this book is a treasure chest full of rich admonitions and information.
I thank New Leaf Publishing Group for providing me a review copy of the book, and I highly recommend Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World. You can purchase the book here.

Mom4JesusAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Awesome Book!March 2, 2011Mom4JesusAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5If you are a Christian parent and want/need true guidance about how to effectively raise your children for God's Glory, then this IS the book you should read - beside the Bible. This is the best book, the most Biblical guide on how to raise Godly children. BUT, keep in mind that ANY Christian book you would read about raising children, is not going to instantly turn you into a super parent if you do not apply in real life what you read on paper! Action is the key work, and personal example.
Lord help us do so!
JenniferBCanadaAge: 35-44Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5August 1, 2009JenniferBCanadaAge: 35-44Gender: FemalePart apologetic, memoir, biography, and parenting guide, the Hams book addresses a variety of topics essential to Christian parents while drawing from scripture, the example of their own godly father, the formation of Answers in Genesis, and their own experiences as fathers. The brothers establish an intergenerational vision for leaving a godly legacy through the family, the vital necessity of basing this legacy on the word of God, and wrap up with practical advice and applications drawn from the Bible. Those familiar with Christian parenting books that use the Bible as their main inspiration will be familiar with many of the points and suggestions made by the Hams. The tried and true method they present for raising children with Jesus and the scriptures at the heart of the family will be a source of encouragement in the task laid before more experienced parents and helps chart the course for those just learning to parent in accordance with Gods word. The additional personal piece which shares life in the Ham household for the brothers as children, the establishment of Kens well-known creation ministry, and the ways in which theyve encouraged their own children in godliness, add an additional element that all who appreciate the Hams work will be eager to read.Though Ive read many of the parenting suggestions included, some of the simplest such as praying aloud for each child in turn at night have deeply impacted our family. While we have already been praying together nightly, the additional personal care our children feel, and the knowledge that we are interceding for them has made a real difference in our familys prayer life. The aspect I most appreciated however, was the brothers focus upon the sovereignty of God in parenting. Too often, believers fall into pride or despair based upon our parenting efforts, while the truth is that God is ultimately responsible for the lives of our children.
