The kids at school call Billy "Dragon Breath" for good reason. His breath is bad! It isnt the normal, morning-mouth bad; its the hot-as-fire, "dont-you-dare-get-near-me" bad. Trouble erupts when his hot breath sets off the fire sprinklers in the boys restroom at school, and his parents learn that theyve kept their secret for too long.
Billy finally discovers the secret. His father was once a dragon! Now thats a piece of news a guy doesnt deal with every day! Billy feels betrayed, alien, lost. When the dragon slayer traps him on a cold mountaintop in West Virginia, Billy learns to battle with weapons of steel and spirit while relying on a power he doesnt understand, a power that helps him learn to trust again.
Bonnie, an orphan, tries to find a home, someone to love her, even though she feels like a freak because of a body feature that she calls a deformity. But this unusual feature becomes a life-saving attribute as she discovers that her love for others and her faith in a creator hold the answers shes looking for.
In this young adult contemporary fantasy novel, author Bryan Davis took historical events surrounding the legend of King Arthur and Merlin the Magician and turned them upside down, backwards, and inside out. Fully human and fully dragon, heroes Billy and Bonnie are being hunted by an evil and determined dragon slayer.
As a 12-year-old, I really liked this book and recommend it as a fun and exciting book for ages ten and up. I was so engrossed in the book, that my mama decided she didn't want to miss out on the fun so she is reading it aloud to our family.
In addition to being a page-turning read, Raising Dragons teaches the principles of faith, love, and courage. It showed me how God can interact in our lives even in the most difficult situations that Satan can ever bring on. God is always there for us.
I've had the pleasure of meeting the author, Bryan Davis and one of his seven children. As a father, Davis obviously writes the quality of book he'd like his family to enjoy. Raising Dragons is published under AMG Publishers' imprint called Living Ink Books. This new line features "writing worth reading."
If you look for me now, you 'll find me eyebrow-deep into the pages of the sequel to Raising Dragons, titled The Candlestone. -- Estee Wells, Christian Book Previews.com

Raising Dragons captivates its reader in a way you wouldn't expect. You feel as they feel, you cry when they cry, and you laugh when they laugh, and there is always a character whom you can relate to. All in all I would recommend Raising Dragons to anyone looking for an adventure.
AnnaPLAge: Under 18Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Don't wait to read this!October 27, 2010AnnaPLAge: Under 18Gender: femaleThe first time I read this book I couldn't put it down. What with Billy finding out about his father's past, and Bonnie struggling with loneliness, I had to know what would happen next and, most importantly, how it all ended. Thankfully, this was only the first in a series that has many surprises I never could have anticipated. I think you'll love reading it and the rest of Billy and Bonnie's story just as much as I did!
Victoria VAge: 18-24Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A great beginning to a great seriesOctober 9, 2010Victoria VAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have always loved fantasy fiction books, but unfortunately there are not enough books out there that are fantasy that Christian teenagers can read. When I first discovered this series I was thrilled. Finally, a book series that I could read and absolutely loved! The story captivated me and the characters soon became my friends. Adventure, dragons, knights, ladies who aren't helpless, in my opinion the perfect story.
