Raising Dragons is a contemporary fantasy novel that inspires you to dig deep within to find your God-given strengths and use them to overcome any obstacle. It is both a hair-raising, modern-day adventure and a glimpse into another world -- a world of knights, dragons, and fair maidens.
A boy learns of his dragon past; a girl has known of hers for years. They combine their faith, courage, and love to overcome evil, a slayer who seeks to bring an end to dragon heritage, forever.
The kids at school call Billy "Dragon Breath" for good reason. His breath is bad! It isnt the normal, morning-mouth bad; its the hot-as-fire, "dont-you-dare-get-near-me" bad. Trouble erupts when his hot breath sets off the fire sprinklers in the boys restroom at school, and his parents learn that theyve kept their secret for too long.
Billy finally discovers the secret. His father was once a dragon! Now thats a piece of news a guy doesnt deal with every day! Billy feels betrayed, alien, lost. When the dragon slayer traps him on a cold mountaintop in West Virginia, Billy learns to battle with weapons of steel and spirit while relying on a power he doesnt understand, a power that helps him learn to trust again.
Bonnie, an orphan, tries to find a home, someone to love her, even though she feels like a freak because of a body feature that she calls a deformity. But this unusual feature becomes a life-saving attribute as she discovers that her love for others and her faith in a creator hold the answers shes looking for.

Raising Dragons is an eye catching paperback. From the first paragraph I didn't want to put it down. My family will attest to that fact. I bulldozed through the 371 pages in a few days.
In this young adult contemporary fantasy novel, author Bryan Davis took historical events surrounding the legend of King Arthur and Merlin the Magician and turned them upside down, backwards, and inside out. Fully human and fully dragon, heroes Billy and Bonnie are being hunted by an evil and determined dragon slayer.
As a 12-year-old, I really liked this book and recommend it as a fun and exciting book for ages ten and up. I was so engrossed in the book, that my mama decided she didn't want to miss out on the fun so she is reading it aloud to our family.
In addition to being a page-turning read, Raising Dragons teaches the principles of faith, love, and courage. It showed me how God can interact in our lives even in the most difficult situations that Satan can ever bring on. God is always there for us.
I've had the pleasure of meeting the author, Bryan Davis and one of his seven children. As a father, Davis obviously writes the quality of book he'd like his family to enjoy. Raising Dragons is published under AMG Publishers' imprint called Living Ink Books. This new line features "writing worth reading."
If you look for me now, you 'll find me eyebrow-deep into the pages of the sequel to Raising Dragons, titled The Candlestone. -- Estee Wells, Christian Book Previews.com
