Fantastic studio high quality production of C. S. Lewis's, "The Screwtape Letters." I have had a lot of windshield time lately and pop this into my cd player. I am on my third round through it. It warrants more concentration than I can give it driving. Very thought-provoking and very well recorded! The DVD Documentary on the making of it is quite intriguing. * * * * *
The Introduction DVD was great, especially the witty and informative interviews with Douglas Gresham. The Audio book, is excellent. Both actors (voices) are great, their voice inflections are nuanced and realistic (even the "gulping" by Wormwood in Letter 2), and the interaction was a nice touch making the letters come alive. Thanks! I am thoroughly enjoying it.
I love theatre and so this is just up my alley. I have to listen to each cd at least twice so to catch everything. CS Lewis is far beyond most human understanding. In many circumstances with the charaters you know you've been accused, decieved, aggravated such as they have.
When I discovered C. S. Lewis through Screwtape Letters at a college campus ministry in the 80's, it changed my Master's thesis focus, my faith, and my life. Now as a college teacher, I was thrilled to see this excellent production. I am using selections as a companion to a lit study of Dante's Inferno and the 7 Deadly Sins. Lewis is like a modern-day-Dante showing us glimpses of Hell and hoping to help us stay on the right path. The DVD also provides great insights about the production and work, especially showing how it is still so relevant today. I look forward to listening to the CD's many times as I re-read and revisit the work myself. Beautifully packaged. Excellent acting and production. Highly recommended. A+
