Editorial Reviews

What follows is a very personal expression of an exceptional running journey back to spiritual, mental and physical health after staring into his own personal abyss.
 - Frank Shorter, Winner – 1972 Olympic gold medal in the marathon

Bruce’s journey is everyone’s journey and The Race Before Us shows that it’s never too late to confront life’s most important question. It is a modern day race of Philippians by an author who is personally sharing, “I press on to make it my own because Christ Jesus has made me his own!!
-  Bishop James Mauney, Virginia Synod – Evangelical Lutheran Church of America

I believe very strongly in the power of sharing the stories of one's life, which is why as a professional marathon runner I always am eager to here the stories of breakthrough from other runners because after hearing their story it releases something in me to walk in that same breakthrough.  In The Race Before Us:  A Journey of Running & Faith, Bruce Matson shares his incredible story of breakthrough that is sure to inspire you to further breakthrough in your own life.
 - Ryan Hall, Olympic Marathon (USA)

A good book tells a compelling story. The Race Before Us is a two-for-one gem that clearly lights the path to both spiritual and physical wholeness. Bruce's parallel journeys of faith and fitness will inspire you to examine your own walk with Jesus - and perhaps to lace up a pair of running shoes along the way."
 - William C. Mims, Justice – Supreme Court of Virginia

I experienced and enjoyed The Race Before Us on two levels. As a runner, I?loved reading Bruce's efforts to prepare for running a marathon and his?challenges along the 26.2 miles. His detailed descriptions of his personal?journey are engaging and informative and will be helpful for those aspiring?to complete a marathon. As a committed Christian, I appreciated Bruce's?journey to faith, his careful and detailed investigation of the evidence for?God and case for Christ. Those searching for truth will learn from this?excellent analysis.
 - Dave Veerman, Author – The Runner’s Devotional; Senior Editor - Life? Application Study Bible?
