UNDERSTANDING THE OMNIPOTENT GOD… WHO ASKS QUESTIONS OF US
Why would God ask anyone a question? We ask questions when we dont understand. Yet, the Creator of the universe who spoke all that we see into being asks questions. Unimaginable power and wisdom are already His. As strange as it may seem to us, the Bible is filled with questions God asks. He is not the one who needs answers these questions help us to understand both God and ourselves.
- Delve into the answers found by Job, Adam, Cain, Moses, Joshua, Elijah, and others
- Examine our fundamental assumptions about God, human nature, relationships, origins, and purpose
- Learn about godly character and Gods transforming message
Find a powerful supplement for family worship, Bible study, and personal devotions in the Questions God Asks. Stop demanding answers from God and begin answering the questions He asks of us.

God asks us questions? I know that we often ask God questions that we want answered now. Throughout the Bible, God Himself has questions that He asks of us. We don't often pay attention to that fact though.
There are 19 chapters in this book. The title of each chapter is in the form of a question that Wayne will show us the context where God asks these questions. It is easy to understand and read.
Chapter 5 is about anger. The title "Why Are You Angry?" is found in Genesis 4:6 - Then the Lord said to Cain, "Why are you angry?" I think we all get angry from time to time. Some people more than others. This is a practical chapter too. It starts out with an account relating to the topic. Wayne then explains what the world teaches about anger. Some "experts" say it's our instinct, others say there's no real right and wrong behaviors just socially right and socially wrong behaviors. Yet others say it's the environment that makes us act in wrong ways. It seems to me they want to blame everybody else or everything except ourselves, our sinful nature. Wayne then shows how Cain acted and the reasons he had for being extremely angry. He also mentions that we never just fall into sin. It's a process that we go through. He gives some Bible verses to back up his statements. He also asks us the hard questions and makes us think about whether we do tend to blame others for yelling. I know I do at times, especially when the kids are not on their best behavior. There are helpful steps that he listed such as # 1 - realize and admit it to God and people that your anger is your own fault and no one else. I like this last paragraph of chapter 5, "You don't have to live as a slave to your passions and temper. You can and must become free for the sake of the glory of God and His perfect plan for your life." Amen!
This book would be good for Christians and non-Christians alike.
I received this e-pub/e-book from the publisher for free in return for my honest review.
MelissaNorth CarolinaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent read!March 11, 2014MelissaNorth CarolinaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Israel Wayne fervently and consistently defends the Christian faith and a biblical worldview. His straight-forward writing style invites everyone, no matter where they are in their walk, to consider the questions God poses to specific individuals, then walking the reader through Scripture to see why the answers are so important. He also explores why God would ask questions in the first place.
One aspect of this book which I feel lends itself to being a tool for evangelism is the brevity of each chapter. Words are not wasted and the simple clarity of each section makes this an ideal read for those seeking to understand who God is according to the Scriptures. As I continued reading individuals came to mind in nearly every chapter with whom I wanted to share the book.

Or, maybe, like me, you never stopped to think about this much at all. You will be amazed by the wealth of wisdom we can learn from slowing down and thinking through what God is really doing
This book is an easy read, that is, if you can handle it. Because the ideas are big, the vocabulary and style aren't. You could hand this book to older kids (10+) without trouble [Warning: there is a bare bones description of the Assyrians' cruelty in the Jonah chapter]. Better yet, you could use it for family study time.
As you can guess, each chapter is based around a single question God asked someone in the Old Testament. Each one is unpacked to expose the basic thinking we can all use in our own lives.
For example, the first recorded question in the Bible was when God asked Adam where he was after eating the fruit. This gave Adam a chance to ‘fess up and face what he'd done and the consequences. Most importantly, God wanted Adam to turn to Him for help rather than trying to fix things himself. All of Adam's children have needed to face this, including each of us. It's the starting point for our relationship with our Creator and Savior.
I especially love the opening question Wayne chose: "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding." Job 38:4
How many people get their whole way of looking at the world wrong because they think they should be the ones asking the questions and making God prove Himself?
Each chapter is like listening to a well-done mini sermon, or even a workshop on how to live the Christian life. From one of the many personal examples Israel Wayne presents, this isn't surprising since he's been speaking at conference workshops since he was a young man.
*I received a free electronic version of the book in exchange for this review. The thoughts are my own.
mamacurlsAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent readFebruary 26, 2014mamacurlsAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"Adam, where are you?" It's a question so many of us have read and wondered where God was going with that. Questions God Asks invites us to reflect on conversations such as this between God and several Old Testament personalities. Though many of us are familiar with the stories presented in Israel Wayne's latest book, he discusses this and several other questions God asks of His followers in the Old Testament. As Mr. Wayne offers fresh insight, we are also given an opportunity to reflect on our own answers to the inquiries.
Though this study is an easy read, there is a good amount of material to reflect on and revisit. I frequently found myself marking the pages as I flipped so that I could share the information later with someone else or simply to remind myself. Once again, Mr. Wayne does not disappoint in his offering. Order your copy today of Questions God Asks, a publication of Master Books, a division of New Leaf Publishing Group.
