Tozer's bestseller, this book has been called "one of the all-time most inspirational books" by a panel of Christian magazine writers.
Sometimes the voices that speak most clearly in the present are those that echo from the past. So it is in this Christian classic by the late pastor and evangelist A. W. Tozer.
Tozer brings the mystics to bear on modern spirituality, grieving the hustle and bustle and calling for a slow, steady gaze upon God. With prophetic vigor and flowing prose, he urges us to replace low thoughts of God with lofty ones, to quiet our lives so we can know Gods presence. He reminds us that life apart from God is really no life at all.
Tozer writes from his knees, a posture fit for presenting the character of God in all its demanding grandeur. "Arise, O sleeper!" is his word to us, and yet if we heed the call, we will see that to arise is not to stand, but to kneel before the God of heaven in humble contemplation. To pursue God is to know Him, and in our knowing be drawn in.
Rob5 Stars Out Of 5Information for the soulMarch 23, 2015RobQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Tozer writes from the heart about things of the Spirit of God. There is too little on the subject. In some aspects, he misses the mark on how the Holy Spirit operates, being influenced by his theological training. Most of his book is well-based on sound observation from his life experience in an area that is most important for the disciple. This book is a crucial addition to the library of any serious student of God. I strongly recommend it to everyone.

Kathy5 Stars Out Of 5MrsJanuary 19, 2015KathyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is an excellent book that I highly recommend. Somewhat like Andrew Murray's Humility, the language is a bit archaic, but once you become familiar with the different sound, and dig into the content, it is vital and relevant. Chapter 3 is a favorite!

It was recommended to me at a time when I was looking to deepen my relationship with the Lord, to walk with Him daily. This book was instrumental in beginning that walk. This is a must read for anyone who seeks to be more than a casual Christian.
