What does holiness look like? For starters, it doesn't look anything like perfection. And it doesn't necessarily look like victory. Mostly, it consists of effort, prayer, grace, and obedience. "Scripture speaks of both a holiness we have in Christ before God, and a holiness we are to strive after," writes Bridges. We can ignore neither Christ's role nor our own if we are to successfully pursue holiness. It is as simple as refusing to smudge the truth on a tax return or as complicated as forgiving the person who has most viciously hurt us.
Bridges takes holiness out of the realm of the impossible and brings it into the real world of your daily life and decisions. Whether you're continuing your pursuit of holiness or just beginning, the principles and guidelines in The Pursuit of Holiness will challenge you to obey God's command of holiness.

This is a very challenging book on the subject of personal holiness. It seems in this era of "feel good" Christianity the emphasis is on grace and lifestyle is inconsequential. While grace and mercy are abundant in the Christian life, I believe our lifestyle should reflect the image of Christ. No matter where you are in your walk, this book will challenge you to be more like Him.

My wife read this book and enjoyed it thoroughly. She appreciated Bridges thoughts on holiness and noted that he is heavily indebted to the great Puritan, John Owen. Nothing wrong with that fact. We are all shaped by the thoughts of others, might as well choose the best to be oir guides. She found the prose clear and the thoughts accessible.

Really good. I read Leviticus afterward, and it made more sense to me than it ever has. Motivates you to pursue holiness. Get ready for Holy Spirit discipline once you finish, God gotta PRUNE His vineyard!

One of the best bible studies I have ever done! Although I was discipled with this book in the mid-1980s, I am pursuing it again as a family study with my husband and daughters! Taking every thought, action, feeling and decision captive - pursuing holiness daily!

Our adult Sunday School class is studying holiness and using this book as a tool. It's very practical, and very thought-provoking.The author has helped me to understand the relationship between God's provision and my responsibility in regards to personal holiness. I believe that I have taken a step in my Christian walk as a result.

This is a great book and have recommended it to others. Jerry Bridges also wrote Respectable Sins that is a great book. I think everyone should read both books.

Very challenging book. We are using it in a Men's sunday school/discipleship class. Solid, scriptural, and very practical study. I would highly recommend it.
