When her best friend, is murdered, Reyna Cruz doesn't believe the police have the whole story. An investigator by trade, she has the talent to track Summer's killer, but when clues lead to a family connection and a vicious gang, she suddenly becomes the hunted. At the end of her rope, Reyna must decide to trust the God she believes abandoned her.
Wanting justice for his sister's murder, lawyer Jimmy Corbeau agrees to help Reyna-even though she's his ex-fiance, and their break-up devastated him. Romance is reawakened, but so are memories of their tragic undoing. Jimmy must decide if he will fight for a future with Reyna or allow their past to derail the investigation and his second chance at love.
When the investigation goes awry and Summer's infant daughter is kidnapped, Reyna must put her life on the line. Will Jimmy and Reyna survive the desperate measures it takes to recover his niece, catch a killer, and secure a happily-ever-after for them all?
AntieM3 Stars Out Of 5Not as I had hopedJanuary 10, 2013AntieMQuality: 3Value: 4Meets Expectations: 2The characters were lacking, but the plot twists were okay... enough to keep me reading anyway. I might try other books by this author.

Sharon A LavyOHAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.November 22, 2011Sharon A LavyOHAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5What can I say? I love reading suspense. So much the better when it has a Christian thread. Raquel Byrnes gripped me at page one and did not let go until I read the last page. I pride myself on guessing who the bad guy is but I did not see this one coming. With Purple Knot I found another favorite writer.
SusanAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Found a New AuthorAugust 1, 2011SusanAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Raquel was a new author for me and her book a new take on the romantic suspense I typically read. I don't normally gravitate toward books written in first person, but Raquel's was an exception for me. Her characters are well-defined and I love Reyna's sarcastic wit. There were a few typos that I hope the publisher will clear up and by no means hinder the story line. All in all I give four stars to this debut novel by a new author I will definitely read again.

Tell us a little about yourself. I live in Southern, California with my husband of sixteen years and our six children. I love to write inspirational romance and consider it a wonderful way to minister to others.
What was your motivation behind this project? I like to write about grace. We are flawed, fallen people, and yet we are mightily loved beyond all reason. Its so important for people to know that they dont have to be perfect to be a Christian. God meets us where were at and goes from there.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? That we have a God of second chances and grace. You do not have to be perfect to have a relationship with Him. He hurts with us, loves us, and longs for us to walk with Him despite mistakes weve made in the past.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I learned so much about how patient God is with me and how abundant His love is.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I'm a huge old school mystery lover. Agatha Christie, Dashiell Hammet. I'm also a fan of Jane Austen.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I wrote Purple Knot, not only as a suspenseful romance, but as a testament to the power of hope and the abundant grace available to us even in our darkest moments.
