Pastor in Florida1 Stars Out Of 5Reccomend this set....NO for several reaasons, print size and quality are an eye strain , writer takes for ever to make his pointMarch 16, 2016Pastor in FloridaQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1Purchased this in Dec. 2015 it arrived in 5 days, examined 7 of the 23 volumes and decided it was not what I wanted or needed, the writer took forever to get his point across and by that time the reader is usually searching for other sources to study. The original books were published ca. 1900 or earlier and need to be re written and edited for 21 century readers I would NOT recommend purchase of this set

Pastor Jeff5 Stars Out Of 5The Pulpit CommentaryDecember 14, 2015Pastor JeffQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I can think of no other commentaries in my library that offer such depth and insight for the student, layman, or those who desire good exegetical material. It should be a must for any person who desires contextual analysis of Scripture. I use my Bible, The Pulpit Commentary, and Strong's Concordance for personal devotion, teaching, and preparation for sermons regularly.
otis5 Stars Out Of 5Best commentary setJuly 1, 2015otisQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My father had this set and had to get one for myself. The commentary is good in itself, but with the sermon outlines and notes, and invaluable resource for minister and student of the word.
Q: Are these books based on the 1611 King James version ?
The publisher does not indicate which King James Version this commentary is based on.
Q: I would like to know what the date of the first edition pulpit commentary was? I am looking at investing a sizable investment (to me) in a good set of commentaries of the whole Bible I understand that they are dated. I am looking to find out how dated. IE. Are they written in the old english that I will find difficult to use Hermeneutical interpretation with?
These were first published in the late 1800s to early 1900s, so the language is closer to modern English. The actual publication date is unknown.
Q: What is the publication date on the pulpit commentary 32 vol. set and what is the relationship to the date of the original
This commentary was first published in the late 1890s. As a set it has changed publishers several times and so has had multiple publication dates. The set is currently on it's 3rd printing by Hendrickson.
