Product Description

The book of Second Peter has long troubled biblical scholars and interpreters, who have disputed both its authorship and its claims about the imminent return of Christ. In this study Peter Leithart offers a preterist reading of the epistle, arguing that it describes first-century events rather than the end of history. At the same time, he maintains orthodoxy, avoiding hyper-preterism and affirming both the real future return of Christ and the epistle's authenticity. Leithart's accessible style and powerful arguments make this book a valuable addition to the discussion surrounding the Bible's apocalyptic prophecies.

This was a short yet wonderful commentary on 2 Peter. Peter Leithart seems to think on a different level than most of us and it's really eye opening. I was convinced of the orthodox preterist (postmill) position a year or so before I read this book and I never got how anyone in their right mind would say that 2 Peter chapter 3 had anything to do with AD 70 or the first century at all. But this changed my mind entirely on that. He proves with a few irrefutable evidences that the Apostle definitely had the first century in mind. I don't want to spoil it so get the book.

In the beginning he also makes an awesome case for apostolic authorship and attacks some of the liberal ideas surrounding the book that about in a lot of today's commentaries.

Check it out. You won't regret it!
