In each four-page story, the reader gets a rhyming verse about the princess (addressed to Mirror, mirror on the wall), a first-person story of the featured Bible woman and the special quality her life reflects, a Bible verse from another passage of Scripture that summarizes/relates to the character trait, and Princess Ponderingsquestions that help girls and their parents discuss the stories and relate the lessons to life.
Through this book, girls will learn more in-depth stories of women of the Bible and how to apply Scripture to their own lives.
Following each narrative, there is a page called "Princess Ponderings," in which the readers are asked three questions related to the story and also about a Bible verse referenced in the questions. The sections all begin with the chant of "Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who was the most __ princess of all?" The blank is filled in with words such as bravest, most helpful, unforgotten, surprised, or faithful. The artwork by Sergey Eliseev is akin to coloring book figures and the page borders are overrun with flowers, branches, leaves, and blossoms. For young girls who are obsessed with the Disney version of what a princess should be, this book offers an alternate set of stories with genuine biblical lessons. Dr. Dennis E. bookwormPennsylvaniaAge: 25-34Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Good read for girlsAugust 1, 2014bookwormPennsylvaniaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3Princess Stories is a great read for little girls. This book is full of stories of women who served God and explains that when someone accepts Christ as their Savior, they are adopted by God Who is King and that makes His children princes and princesses. This is a great explanation especially for little girls because many of them dream and pretend of being princesses. This book then goes on to tell the stories of 29 women who served God and what made them special as well as what the reader can learn and apply to their own life. What I really liked about the book is how the author saved room for the telling of a special princess to God and that is where the girl who owns the book can write their own story. This is a wonderful book that will teach the young girl in your life how special she is to God and how she can serve Him as His princess.
jsrn185 Stars Out Of 5Find your princess in the bibleJuly 17, 2014jsrn18All little girls want to be princesses and this book allows them to look up to real "princesses". Although they may not be princesses in the bible they are great individuals that girls can look up to. Nice to see true princess stories.
thecraftyhomeAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5July 16, 2014thecraftyhomeAge: 25-34Gender: femalePrincess Stories is a sweet devotional for girls. My daughter, who is 5, immediately knew it was a princess book even though she couldn't read. We have read several of the stories together and they are great. It starts with an introduction explaining the book and then goes through several women in the Bible. It starts with Eve and works it's way through ending with a section on the little girl being God's special princess.
Each chapter on a Bible character starts with a little poem and then the story of that women as told from the viewpoint of the character. They explain what their life was like. Then there is a Bible verse and questions to discuss with your daughter called Princess Ponderings.
I really, really love this book. It is super cute and even has a place to write in the front making it a super cute gift idea. I know my daughter will cherish this book for a long, long time.
