In the "Getting Ready to Learn" portion of the lesson, "Check your readiness" exercises help students see where they might need to review before the lesson. "Check skills you'll need" list the skills used in the lesson, and new vocabulary is highlighted before it's introduced.
Sidebar helps tell students where to go for help in the textbook if they need to review, or note when an online tutor video is available.
The lesson itself includes "quick check" problems for students to see if they understand the concept just introduced; "key concepts" boxes that summarize definitions, formulas, & properties, online activities for review and practice; vocabulary sidebars and features that help focus on the language of math; and multiple types of practice activities that feature new material, integrate older material, and provide challenges. Guided problem solving activities are solved from a student's point of view, and focus on the reasoning that goes into solving a problem. Activity Lab pages provide opportunities to explore concepts at a more in-depth level. A homework video tutor for every lesson is provided online.
Skills handbook, table section, extra word problems, Spanish/English glossary, instant check answers, and selected answers are included in this student textbook. 768 pages, hardcover. Course 2; grade 7.

There are four CDs. The CD that contains the answers has a mass of files, none of which contain a clear title to know what the file contains. You therefore have to search through every file to get what you want. I have finally located the answers to chapter questions, chapter homework, reviews, and the tests that appear in the book. Since the files are not labeled it would be difficult to put the disc in when you need something and find the correct file in a reasonable amount of time (like during the math lesson). I have printed out the pages I need, but thankfully on a printer/paper that I am not paying for.
I cannot locate any of the examples that I have seen for extra work pages, alternate tests, and extra practice. When you print off the pages from the book they will have sample pages in the margins that are useful for extra help. These are some of the pages that I cannot find. I have found an extra test for chapters 1 and 2 on the disc, but not for any other chapters. And I cannot even find the answers to those two chapter tests. I believe that I have finally gotten through all of the files and I still cannot locate them.
I contacted the Prentice Hall company and received this reply: "The answers should be a separate file on the CD. Unfortunately, there isn't a key or guide as to what the different files are, and the CD is certainly not user-friendly in that regard. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any other questions, please let us know."
Two of the discs are to create your own computer lessons. I did not need these so I cannot vouch for their ease of use. The fourth CD is a quiz show but I have not used this yet.
The book itself is visually busy, but decent. Although, yet again it is one of those math books that has homework questions beyond the examples given in the lesson. By the way, I did purchase the workbook but it is very light in practice for each lesson.
Very poor curriculum in terms of function and overall use. I will not be purchasing anymore Prentice Hall material.
