Product Description

As a pastor or leader, perhaps you have heard that no area of ministry is more difficult than preaching. Must it be so? Could it be that unfolding teh text, developing an outline, and presenting the Bible are much more complex than simple? James Bradford applies his considerable experience in the field of scientific research to answering the tough questions about preaching that ministers have.

Preaching: It May Be Rocket Science is a book that will challenge you to strive for excellence in the study of God's word, while at the same time equipping you for a deeper level of ministry. Bradford covers topics that are relevant to the life of a leader such as training, rebuking, time management, and aligning yourself with your message. It is a book that shows that there is more to preaching than meets the eye, and that, just maybe it is rocket science after all.

Author Bio

Jim Bradford holds a PhD in Aerospace engineering from the University of Minnesota. While in college he led a Bible study that eventually grew into a university church. Upon graduation, Jim entered full-time ministry with that campus outreach. Since then he has pastored in British Columbia, California, and Missouri, and serves as general secretary of the Assemblies of God. He and his wife, Sandi, have two daughters. Dr. Jim Bradford was elected General Secretary of the Assemblies of God by the Executive Presbytery in February 2009. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and the Executive Presbytery. As general secretary, Bradford oversees Ministerial Resourcing, the credentialing of ministers, church chartering, the collection of official statistics and the Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center. Prior to his election as general secretary, Bradford served as Senior Pastor of Central Assembly in Springfield, Missouri. Bradford holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Minnesota. As a student he led a small Chi Alpha campus Bible study that eventually grew into a university church. Upon graduation in 1979, Bradford stepped into full time ministry with that campus outreach. In 1988, Bradford and his family moved to Southern California where he pastored Newport-Mesa Christian Center in the heart of Orange County. Twelve years later the Bradfords transitioned to Vancouver, B.C., to pastor Broadway Church, a move that returned Jim to his early Canadian roots. It was in 2003 that Bradford and his family moved to Springfield to assume the pastorate of Central Assembly.
