Allen and Williamson explore insights from recent Christian-Jewish dialogue, continuities between Judaism and the theology of Paul, and the Roman occupation to help the preacher understand the Jewish context of the letters. As in Preaching the Gospels without Blaming the Jews, they also suggest how todays preacher can deal with issues or comments in the text that are inappropriate or controversial in todays context.
Ronald J. Allen is the Nettie Sweeney and Hugh Th Miller Professor of Preaching New Testament at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is the coauthor of Preaching the Gospels without Blaming the Jews.
Clark M. Williamson is Indiana Professor of Christian Thought Emeritus at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is a member of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council and the coauthor of Preaching the Gospels without Blaming the Jews.
