Pointed, Applicable Teaching for All Believers
I've used this set for over 5 years and it continues to be my "go-to" resource for sermon preparation instead of Tydale, NICOT, NICNT, Keil/Delitsch, Calvin, Critical, etc. Yes, the highly critical, exegetical, and historical commentaries are nice, but they lack the main point of Scripture's purpose: to reach the heart, and not just the mind, of people. So many times we ministers get lost in exegetical studies that don't truly make much difference in the lives of our hearers. These lessons, however, are designed to provide enough Scripture to "prick the hearts" of the people with focus placed on "living for Christ" and not simply "knowing about Him."
The cost of these books is high compared to the price of Leadership Ministries free weekly sermons, but, as far as I'm concerned, these are well worth the purchase price.
