Tired of math curriculums with little instruction, since they presuppose a teacher? This applauded pre-algebra curriculum was written specifically for the independant learner; it doesn't require a teacher guiding you every step of the way, so it's very clear about instructions, employing an easy, conversational style of writing. Illustrations, examples, and graphs have a hand drawn look to them, and problems often use engaging real life illustrations. Teaching Textbooks uses the review method, helping students through difficult or new concepts, and increasing long-term retention. Another unusual and extremely helpful feature are the audiovisual lecture, practice, and solution CDs for every chapter, homework and test problem. With such a support network, you'll never be stumped again!

We are just starting to use the Teaching Textbooks curriculum. My daughter really enjoys being able to complete the lessons independently. It is a very complete curriculum and the lessons are easy to understand. The only thing that needs to be improved is the paper quality in the student book. It is very light-weight and for the price of the curriculum it should be better quality paper.

This is a GREAT program! I never had algebra when I was in school so I felt I could not teach it to our son. We tried other curriculum but they just frustrated him. This curriculum is worth every penny and I plan on using Algebra I next year for him and grade seven for our other son.

I gave this product 2 stars as a 'pre algebra' text---it should be 7th or 8th math, basic math. It was a wonderful remediation for my daughter who has a tough time with math, but my son LOVED it because it was so easy! When he told my why he loved it so much---I was not happy. He is repeating a real PreAlgebra course after finishing this one before he heads to Algebra 1. The wonderful reviews of TT baffle me---we tried the Algebra 1 also and found the material not only confusing and making simple things seem complicated, but it is also far behind other publishers. People need to be aware that you need to use every single TT book in the series to get all Alg 1 and 2 topics---we have run out of time and found a program that explains the concepts succinctly and clearly without talking down to the student or dragging a simple explanation into pages and pages.

I was nervous about teaching Pre-Algebra and Algebra to my kids and knew I needed a good program that would help us with solutions when they get a problem wrong. The teaching is excellent and the solutions disc is a saving grace. I love this program and recommend it. We have moved on to Algebra and it is good as well. I used this program on my Mac OSX and it works beautifully. I only wish I could get it to run on iPod touch as an app. Then we can take our school lectures with us.

This is a wonderful textbook set. My son was doing Saxon Math in a Christian school and hating all the review. He was losing interest and making careless mistakes. This curriculum had just the right amount of instruction and practice questions for my child. We also started 1/2 way thru the book as the earlier chapters were too easy. However, for a struggling child, those chapters could build confidence. We did not use the solutions CD or the test solution CD but I am glad they are included. We may need them for the Algebra 1 course more.

We are using the Pre-Algebra book. My daughter loves this math curriculum because of the very clear explanation and funny word problems. We have tried a variety of math programs and this is the best I've found for clarity. I will say that Singapore math is also excellent. The fact that there is too much review is the only reason this product is not 5 stars.
