I want to first point out that this is a tiny booklet, not really a book, it is 37 pages, stapled, about the size of a 3x5 photo print. However, the cover is shiny cardstock so it should survive in a purse or pocket.
I think the book is clear and a helpful transition for new believers trying out the language of the Bible in prayers that he might hear or he might pray. There are specific scripture references so the reader can see the foundation behind the different prayers (a prayer to glorify God, to put on the armor of God, to walk in love, to bear fruit, etc.).
This is an absolutely wonderful prayer booklet, not only for new but also seasoned believers. The focus is on prayers for the reader's own spiritual growth. It first starts out with a page of faith confessions ("Personal Affirmations.") Since the prayers are mostly personalized from Scripture verses, it guides us into praying according to God's Word, which is His will. All scripture references are provided. Germaine Copeland did a wonderful job. James 4:3 says that when our prayers are not answered, it is because we ask amiss... for our own pleasure. Also, 1 John 5:14-15 tells us to ask according to His will and we will receive whatever we ask. With these prayers no one can ask amiss. These prayers are so God's-Will-centered and God's-Word-centered that they will be answered, are faith building, and will anchor a person in the knowledge of God. These are truly effective prayers of faith. To top it all, towards the back of the booklet, there is a prayer for us to receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit. How awesome is that?!
