This book far exceeded my expectations. It is now a regular companion and source of comfort, encouiragement and hope. The author has effectively brouight God' Word in confrontation and response to issues arising from prodigal children, friends. While reading this book, my focus shifted from personal pain, disappointment to God's presence and prevailing work--which revived long-lost hope.
This author writes in such a way that you know he has truly walked the difficult, refining journey that having a prodigal child brings to the heart of a parent. It is refreshingly honest and yet submits every emotion, feeling and struggle to the final authority of God's word. I've been so encouraged and uplifted by it.
This book is a great source of encouragement for parents whose children have headed down a difficult and dangerous path. The author understands the pain and challenges of parents of prodigals and through his heartfelt prayers offers hope, help and encouragement. He reminds us again and again who God is and what He can do and strengthens our faith. God can lead our children home. I highly recommend this book.
While I understand that prodigals can be either male or female, the tedium of translating the nouns and pronouns from the female gender to male (and vice versa, for those praying for daughters) caused difficulty for both my husband and me as we prayed the daily prayers for our son. Perhaps using the term "child" more often would have helped. Nevertheless, this is a valuable prayer aid for anyone whose heart has been "pierced" by a prodigal .
