The Yada Yada Prayer Group is in troubleand theyre having a hard time getting out.
Jodi Baxter is feeling overwhelmed, to say the least. Every day it seems that more blessings, problems, and everything in between crop up among her Yada Yada sisters, and their prayer list is getting out of control.
Not only are the Yada Yadas still recovering from the vicious racial attack on Mark, but Ruth and Bens midlife pregnancy takes a dangerous turn, Aviss daughter and grandbaby show up unannounced, Floridas artistic son gets caught tagging, and Uptown is talking about merging with New Morning into one racially mixed churchraising anxiety and stress to new levels. To top it all off, Jodi keeps saying yesto everything. Its getting harder to see God in the everyday rat race of life, especially in the face of exhaustion.
With so many burdens resting on her circle of sisters, Jodi fi nds herself trapped by the goodand badhabit of trying to fi x everything and everyone. After lots (and lots) of failures, Jodi begins to learn that God can use anything, even the messes we make, to accomplish His good purposes.
What will it take to help the Yada Yadas focus on Gods promises instead of getting caught by the lies we so easily believe?
In a sense, the storys real-life quality is part of its problem. It lacks narrative drive. Even within a character-driven story, a solid plot is attainable; this one takes too long more than the first third of the book to find any kind of momentum. Pages pass without any sort of progression, while Jodis often insipid internal monologue rolls along.
The storys strong point lies in its presentation of interpersonal relationships between individuals who, self-absorbed due to their respective problems, regularly fail to communicate. Jackson creates several resonant scenes as such, and she is correct in pointing out that this alienation and lack of connection is a problem in 21st century churches, families, and job environments. However, I found these scenes to be too few and too late, hardly worth wading through four hundred pages. Though this reviewer found it wearying, fans of the series will enjoy catching up with the characters . Amanda C. Dreher, Christian Book Previews.com

Audrey Jaeb5 Stars Out Of 5August 17, 2010Audrey JaebBeing in the last stages of an illness and having decisions being made about a transplant has led me to do a lot of new things. This series has brought much needed blessing to my days. At any stage of my life I could have used some of Jodi's musing to remind me of God's word. That is why I am passing these on to younger gals now. These are so timely.

Teresa Mozingo5 Stars Out Of 5December 28, 2008Teresa MozingoTrue to the YaYa Prayer Group style, they are on the move and growing in Christ and in their dedication. As always, a true inspiration and encouragement to me to be aware of others needs without being judgemental and to grow in my service to the Lord.
Brandy Hopkins5 Stars Out Of 5October 15, 2008Brandy HopkinsI love the whole series! Not only do you get to enjoy great stories, the authors write them in a way that grows your faith. With discussion questions at the end, they are a great read for a "book group".
