Follow pioneers, immigrants, and orphans through their adventures, heartaches, challenges, victories, and romances. You are sure to find more than one favorite among nine stories in this unique collection to warm your heart and inspire your faith. Author BioCathy Marie Hake is a Southern California native. She met her two loves at church: Jesus and her husband, Christopher. An RN, she loved working in oncology as well as teaching Lamaze. Health issues forced her to retire, but God opened new possibilities with writing. Since their children have moved out and are married, Cathy and Chris dote on dogs they rescue from a local shelter. A sentimental pack rat, Cathy enjoys scrapbooking and collecting antiques. “I’m easily distracted during prayer, so I devote certain tasks and chores to specific requests or persons so I can keep faithful in my prayer life.” Since her first book in 2000, she’s been on multiple best-seller and readers’ favorite lists. JUDITH MCCOY MILLER is an award-winning author whose avid research and love for history are reflected in her novels, many of which have appeared on the CBA bestseller lists. Judy makes her home in Topeka, Kansas.
Lynn A. Coleman is an award winning and best-selling author of Key West and other books. She began her writing and speaking career with how to utilize the Internet. Since October 1998, when her first fiction novel sold she's sold 30 books and novellas. Lynn is also the founder of American Christian Fiction Writers Inc., and served as the group's first president for two years and two years on the Advisory Board. One of her primary reasons for starting ACFW was to help writers to develop their writing skills and to encourage others to go deeper in their relationship with God. "God has given me a gift," says Lynn, "but it is my responsibility to develop that gift." Lynn has spoken at writers groups, women's groups, home-schooling organizations, church groups, conferences, workshops and retreats. "Lynn is informative, humorous, and approachable--what more can you ask for?" said one attendee. She makes her home in Keystone Heights, Florida, where her husband of 36 years serves as pastor of Friendship Bible Church. Together they are blessed with three children and eight grandchildren. MARY DAVIS is a full-time fiction writer who enjoys going into schools and talking to kids about writing. Mary lives near Colorado's Rocky Mountains with her husband, three children, and six pets.
LENA NELSON DOOLEY lives in Hurst, Texas, with her husband, James, and enjoys her two daughters and her grandchildren. Aside from writing, Lena has been a speaker to women's groups and retreats, as well as writing seminars and conferences. Lena appreciates any opportunity to spread the gospel through missions work and writing. LINDA FORD draws on her own experiences living in the Canadian prairie and Rockies to paint wonderful adventures in romance and faith. She lives in Alberta, Canada, with her family, and she writes as much as her full-time job of taking care of a parapelgic and four kids, who are still at home, will allow. Linda says, 'I thank God that He has given me a full, productive life and that I'm not bored. I thank Him for placing a little bit of the creative energy revealed in His creation into me, and I pray I might use my writing for His honor and glory.'
LINDA GOODNIGHT and her husband, Gene, live on a farm in their native Oklahoma. They have a blended family of six grown children. An elmentary school teacher for the past sixteen years, Linda is a licensed nurse.
KATHLEEN PAUL teaches spelling, creative writing, and first-grade part-time in a home school supplementary academy. Kate's desire to write inspirational romance came about several years ago when her daughter wanted to read 'grown-up' books about love. She decided to write something romantic that wouldn't 'pollute her heart, mind, and soul.' Her daughter is now living her own Christian romance, leaving Kate with her mom, son, two dogs, and dust bunnies in a Colorado Springs household recovering from wedding shock.
In first grade, Janet Spaeth was asked to write a summary of a story about a family making maple syrup. She wrote all during class, through morning recess, lunch, and afternoon recess, and asked to stay after school. When the teacher pointed out that a summary was supposed to be shorter than the original story, Janet explained that she didn’t feel the readers knew the characters well enough, so she was expanding on what was in the first-grade reader. Thus a writer was born. She lives in the Midwest and loves to travel, but to her, the happiest word in the English language is home. Editorial Reviews"The Prairie Romance Collection" is great fun to read. Each story, though different, gives you the sights and sounds and feel of living on The Great Prairie. This is a book where you wrap yourself in a cozy blanket, make yourself comfortable in your favorite chair and have warm cider to drink as you savor each story. All the stories are so well written and the romance is perfect, tender not overboard or forced. Take a look at the two fold out sleeves on the book to really give you the picture of what the prairie looked like. I enjoyed this book and look forward to more collections like this.
