Cindy Loven4 Stars Out Of 5Cute bookMarch 4, 2014Cindy Loven
It has been a long time, since I watched or read a Veggie Tale story, my son is nearly 21 now, and well I guess everyone grows up sometimes. Overall this
book is cute. I did find it might be a bit advanced for a level one beginning reader, but mom and dad can help their little reader with those big veggie words. There are some great lessons in this book too, lessons about listening,
being angry, and doing your schoolwork. All important lessons for young readers
I give this book a 4 star rating. Great book!

This book is a lot of fun and it is very easy to read (Level 1). There are lots of colorful picture and are great for reading to your child or allowing your child to read to you before bed time. The thing we loved about this book is that there are three stories in one book with some of our all time favorite characters. I mean who doesn’t love talking veggies?
From the mouth of my 8 year old daughter:
It’s cool and funny! I like it.

Pirates, Mess Detectives, and a Superhero is a new Veggie Tales "3 in one" I Can Read book. My son has a few of these books in other genre's and we typically like these types of books. It's nice to have 3 stories in one volume and it's even nicer when it's bound as a hard back book.
Each story is really cute and contains a simple, easy to follow plot that ends with a short encouragement from the Bible. My son loves the Veggie Tales characters and the book is filled with bright colored pictures.
The only suggestion I have is that perhaps this is actually a level 2 reader and not a level 1 as the cover suggests. The "I can read" series usually has simple, beginner reader words.
A typical "I can read" level 1 book has only a sentence or two on each page - this one has much more. Also I think beginner level readers would have a difficult time reading the words: asparagus, larrymobile, Petunia, and unsatisfactory. But that's my own personal opinion.
All in all, Zondervan has a real hit with this book and it is certainly a wonderful addition to our bedtime reading routine.
Thank you to Zondervan for this preview copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This book is so exciting for me to get! It is a level 1 reader and I was so excited to get this to review because as a Christian school teacher there are not many Christian books that are readers that students can read on their own, when they are young. There are more books as they get older but this one helps them to sound out words and be able to read it on their own which is so great for students to be able to feel independent.
I would suggest this book for anyone who works with children or is a parent of a young reader or knows of a young reader. What child doesn't love Veggie Tales? Big Ideas does such a phenomenal work with their Veggie Tales ministry. It reaches kids and helps them to see what God wants through what they might struggle with. It helps put a Christian principle to an every day struggle.
