To me, this is a good game to play with children to arouse their curiosity and get them motivated to read Bunyan's classic. It is not a game I would want to play often because there are many pieces that sit on the game board and get knocked over whenever anyone moves a game piece the wrong way. It would be more fun if the pieces attached some way.

Years ago, when my older children were younger, I had a Pilgrim's progress Game. It had colored plastic game pieces with a burden that clicked off when you got to the cross. There were dice to roll to get out of some of the traps. We loved the game so much it fell apart. I bought this one for my younger children and I was disappointed because it is more cartoon-y and the names of things are modernized; i.e. the interpreter's house=the explainer's house; it makes it harder to fit the game to the real story...also, nobody goes to hell. It seems sort of 'dumbed down'. However, it is better than nothing and I do not exactly feel that I wasted my money. My children (6 and 9), after all enjoy playing it.

This board game is really great! My kids (6, 5 and 3yrs. old) all enjoy it so much. Knowing the story sure makes the game more fun. But if your kids don't already know the story, it comes with a great book of the story too. It is a wonderful avenue of discussing salvation, trials, faith and glory.I highly recommend this one! :)
