By learning phonics, your child will have the best possible start in reading, spelling, and language skills. Each card in the kit contains one "phonogram", which is defined as either one letter or a combination of letters which represents one sound in a word. For example, in the word "that", the phonograms are "th", "a", and "t". The break-down of a word, such as "that", is called decoding, and is also practiced with these cards. The cards come with a wall chart and detailed instructions for the teacher.
This set consists of flash cards and a wall chart for classroom use. On one side of each card is a phonogram to display to your class and on the reverse side is teaching information for you. The correlated wall chart does indeed make phonics plain as you can see everything organized into ten manageable groups. You CAN teach them. Your children CAN learn. Instructions are included. Additional examples and explanations can be found in the excellent reference work ABC's and All Their Tricks.
