This material for English/phonics is our favorite! They do such a great job of combining phonics skills and writing. It's a good foundation that prepares them for more in depth English skills in the coming years. Plus, it's really fun for the kids, and they can't wait do their schoolwork! I've taught 1st-6th grade using the BJU English program and I love it! You can see my other comments for the 3rd & 6th grade reviews.
