5 Stars Out Of 5

I bought this Bible because of the drop in price to around $8 dollars. I also wanted to get my hands on the God's Word translation although I pretty much knew what to expect from having accessed it on-line. This is one of the best built Bibles I've ever bought. The Duravelle cover is attractive, tough and flexible, and the binding is Smyth-sewn. It will lie open flat on your desk. I usually read, sitting in a chair, and I can easily bend half of this Bible back out of the way if I'm in the first or last 1/4 of the text.
The text block is wonderful on the eyes. The font is 12 point and eminently readable. Pages are thin, but not too thin, and there is very little bleed-through. At least it doesn't interfere with my reading. The text is single column, and this is perfect for someone who intends actually to read the Bible instead of using it as a reference book. I love the single-column 12-point text block, and I love the size of this edition. It is somewhat thick because it is personal-sized, which means it is smaller than your ordinary 9"x12" Bible.
I got the turquoise Duravelle, which is bright and attractive. I enjoy holding this Bible, turning the pages and reading it. The translation helps me see passages in a different light although I don't use it as my primary read. It is a dynamic translation like the NLT, and footnotes alert the reader to any irregularities in word choice, sentence structure, alternative translations and so on. I think the translation is bold and readable. In fact, I'd say it's fun to read as long as you can check it against a more conservative translation, such as the NKJV or ESV. In summary, I find this Bible to be very attractive, very well-made, fun to read and an incredible bargain at $9.99.
