Perfect Lies: Overcoming Nine Hidden Beliefs That Stand between You and a Healthy, Joy-Filled Life is a book written by Jennifer Crow. To the outside world, Jennifer seemed to have a perfect life but she began having health problems and became depressed. Jennifer realized that she had been accepting the devil's perfect lies and it was affecting her mind and body. Some of the lies she believed: I am unlovable, I am worthless, and I am unacceptable. She eventually found a (non-Christian) counselor that helped her to combine meditative prayer with the truths she knew about God. As Jennifer got her health back, she wanted to share the practical techniques she learned with others so they could lead a healthy and joy-filled life. Each chapter of the book identified each lie, then took the reader through something called a picture prayer exercise. The end of each chapter also provided statements and scriptures to ponder. I'm not sure how effective the picture prayer exercises are, but I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to try a different technique to stop feeling unworthy and start feeling joy in their life. This is a great book about Christian living
This book is not for the faint-of-heart. In fact, it takes courage to read this book and place ourselves in Jennifer's place. For, her story touches the lives and lies of every reader. We all have lies we live behind, in order to survive. But, is this the life that Christ wants us to live?
Jennifer takes us through 9 lies that chip away at our family relationships, physical health, mental wellness, and our relationship with the Lord. She teaches you about the lie and the ways in which it manifests itself. Here are a few of the lies that she lists and tackles in her book:
1. Perfect Lie Number One: I Am Unlovable
2. Perfect Lie Number Three: I Am Unacceptable
3. Perfect Le Number Six: I Am Not Angry
4. Perfect Lie Number Nine: I Am Deprived
These are just a few of the life lies Jennifer touches upon. This book helps you to figure out why you are living a particular lie and the ammunition to fight back. This book is a "must-read" for everyone and especially, Christians.

This book is about Jennifer, a pastorâÂÂs wife, who had many struggles, both physical and mental, and her road to healing. Everything looked perfect on the outside but inside she was going through so much inner turmoil. There are nine lies that Jennifer believes people struggle with: I am unlovable, I am worthless, I am unacceptable, I am unable, I am a target, I am not angry, I am bad, I am in danger and I am deprived. In each chapter Jennifer mentions emotions that are associated with each lie. For example, if you believe the lie that you are worthless then you may also be experiencing sadness, depression and inferiority.
Jennifer believes that the Lord healed her through what is called Christian Meditative Prayer. She addressed the lies that she believed through scripture, prayer and meditation. She devotes a chapter at the end of the book to explain what Christian Meditative Prayer is and how to use it. She understands that many people shy away from meditation because often it is associated with New Age. However, she mentions that we are to meditate on the Word of God.
This book spoke to me and has helped me during my own journey to healing. It was an answer to my prayers and I would like to thank Jennifer for sharing her story. I do not agree with everything that is said in this book but I found a lot of the information helpful. I would recommend this book because it helped me. However, I realize that there are many people that may not be able to receive from this book. Regarding meditative prayer, you will have to decide if it is right for you. I believe we are to meditate on the Word of God and the Lord always needs to be our focus.

Healing through Him
I recently read, and put into practice, the book Perfect Lies by Jennifer Crow.
I was surprised by this book. Pleasantly surprised.
Jennifer Crow is a pastor's wife whose attempts to portray a life of perfection eventually caught up with her and began eating away at her physical health. I read with enormous interest her battles with a variety of emotional and physical illnesses that prevented her from serving her family and her church. Relying on medication, Jennifer Crow was certain of God's promise that He planned for her a a promising future of abundance, but couldn't reconcile that Biblical promise with her reality.
Eventually, Jennifer realized that she needed to steep herself in deep prayer. Meditating on scriptures, and countering her mind's lies with scriptural truth, Jennifer quickly received miraculous healing.
What is different about this book is that Jennifer not only shares her own story of unexpected healing and faith, but she is transparent about the lies she allowed herself to believe. Lies come from the pit of hell, yet we often believe them, running them though our heads over and over again until our whole being is imbued with falsehood. How many of us are consumed with worry, feeling desperate for the world's approval, and subsequently ridden with anxiety? And how many of our health struggles are a result of this?
In an coherent and cohesive fashion, Jennifer guides the reader through her strategy of meditating on scripture, saturating the mind and spirit with God's truth, straight from the Bible. Some Christians may be concerned about the notion of meditation, but rest assured, Jennifer's meditation style requires us to focus on the wisdom of no other but God, actually dissolving the negative effects of false-thinking by creating new, healthy ways of thinking founded solidly on rock.
I was pleased that Jennifer provides numerous relevant verses for us to begin our scriptural meditation, resting in God's love and bathing the mind with his words of health and healing.
It was brave and generous of Jennifer Crow to invite us into her pain, and to share with us her pathway to healing through Jesus Christ. Of all the books I have been provided to review, this one has had the greatest impact on my practice of faith.
