This book is not just another discipleship manual but rather, as the cover indicates, presents a unique focus that is easily applied to any good system of discipleship. Without contradicting any christian teaching, this book contains ingredients that may corroborate and enrich any good discipleship system. The author begins with the example provided in Acts 1:13, where we a group of determined disciples are found praying in the upper room. Their lives and examples serve to motivate and inspire others to commit themselves to join them in that upper place of prayer. The author paints a picture of a staircase that, although metaphorical, is very real and practical. He describes 25 steps that when put into practice progressively build on each other. Each step represents a virtue, quality or ability that is found in any good disciple. Lively anecdotes illustrating basic but foundational principles are interspersed throughout. However, as the reader advances through the steps of the narrative the tone changes and the narrative advances to higher, more complex concepts. These illustrations, culminating with the final chapter, 'The Photograph Album,' serve to challenge and inspire all disciples, even those who are already consider themselves mature and experienced.

Richard Hussey was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1927. After completing military service he enrolled in the Biblical Teaching Center of the New Testament Missionary Union in Temperley, located south of Buenos Aires. He soon moved to England where he was employed by the nationally-owned Argentine airline company for 13 years, first in London and later in Manchester. In May 1971 he began full-time ministry work after resigning his position with the airline company. Since then he and his wife Sylvia have served the Lord together, first as leaders in the community of faith and life in North Wales for seven years and later as missionaries to Spain for more than 10 years and in Argentina for five years. He has also served as counselor for the Spanish-speaking church C.E.L. (Evangelical Congregation of London). SPANISH BIO: Ricardo Hussey nacio en Buenos Aires en 1927. Luego de concluir su servicio militar ingreso en el Centro de Ensenanza Biblica de la Union Misionera Neo testamentaria en Temperley al sur de Buenos Aires. Muy poco despues se traslado a Inglaterra donde fue funcionario de la empresa estatal Aerolineas Argentinas por 13 anos primero en Londres y posteriormente en Manchester. En Mayo 1971 paso a servir al Senor a tiempo pleno habiendo renunciado a su cargo de Aerolineas Argentinas. Desde entonces ha servido al Senor junto con su esposa Sylvia, liderando una comunidad de fe y de vida en el Norte de Gales por casi 7 anos, y como misionero en Espana por poco mas de 10 anos y en Argentina por 5 anos. Es tambien consejero de la iglesia de habla hispana C.E.L. (Congregacion de Evangelicos de Londres).
