Retreat Inside a Book
Have you ever felt overwhelmed with all you have to get done? Felt as if youâÂÂd never reach the end of your to-do list? Struggled to catch your breath? Then I can relate.
I received Grace FoxâÂÂs book Peaceful Moments to Begin Your Day: Devotions for Busy Women at a time when I felt unbearably busy. There was schoolwork to be done, friends to call and wish a âÂÂHappy Birthdayâ to, blog posts to write, family business to attend to, and oh, yeah, I should probably read my Bible too.
So I drank in the title of her book and eagerly began reading, hoping against all hope that the book itself would deliver on what the title had promised.
To my great delight, it delivered on all that and more!
I literally began each day by reading Peaceful Moments to Begin Your Day and it truly became one of the few restful moments of my day. I felt so refreshed and inspired after reading, it quickly became something I looked forward to every morning.
Each devotion was long enough so as to deliver something of value, but short enough that I didnâÂÂt feel overwhelmed at the prospect of reading it. Every devotion included an âÂÂUpward Gazeâ (a prayer to pray), an âÂÂInward Glimpseâ (questions to reflect on), an âÂÂOutward Glanceâ (a pre-written prayer to pray for someone else), and âÂÂOne More Peekâ (one final Scripture related to the topic to meditate on).
The devotions were full of personal stories and easy to read. I especially liked the âÂÂOutward Glanceâ sections of the book. At times, it can be difficult to know how or what to pray for our loved ones, and often the âÂÂOutward Glanceâ portion for the day would be exactly what I needed and couldnâÂÂt seem to find the words to say.
IâÂÂd only recommend this book to two types of people, and they are these: If you are A) busy, or B) a woman.
If either of those things describe you, pick up this book, ladies! You wonâÂÂt regret it.

Simple, yet powerful devotional
Grace Fox has a true heart for God. The devotions in her book, Peaceful Moments to Begin Your Day, are simple yet powerful, and busy women can relate to these relevant nuggets of encouragement in all walks of life. I like Grace's transparency as she shares stories from her own life and others, and includes biblical examples with practical application. In this beautiful little gift edition, Grace packs a volume of wise and thoughtful encouragement that will help quiet the spirit and bring peace to any woman's day.

This book is a gem
I have also read this book in its previous form, when it was titled 10-Minute Time Outs for Busy Women, but this new binding is perfect for this book. It fits comfortably in the hand, and the cover is soft and beautifully colored. I've loved the book's content since it first came out, but now I love the book itself. I'm going to be buying several as gifts -- it's that kind of book. Grace Fox is a masterful devotional writer, with stories that interest me and Scriptures that point me to God. Each day's entry has a prayer that is both naturally written and deep. And I want to mention that it has a ribbon to keep your place -- a lovely touch for a lovely book.
