Style over Substance - There was Style but no Substance

The acting was good, the picture and sound was good, but the story line script?... well, had the producers stuck to the Book of Acts, it would have been an excellent movie. Instead, they filled this 2 hour movie with 40% poetic license of fictitious characters and events. Acts is an incredibly climatic and eventful book, so why would they deviate from the story line and skim over the Day of Pentecost and Peters bold statements and make Peter out to be a timid person? Why briefly touch on the lame man whom Peter and John healed in the name of Jesus? Why leave out the miraculous way how God delivered Peter out of prison? Why not go into more detail of who Stephen when he saw Jesus sitting at the right hand of God and he asking God not to hold their sin of stoning him against them. Why leave out the vision of the unclean animals and the Roman centurion whom loved God and he and his entire family filled with the Holy Spirit? Why show Paul being ship wrecked on the island but leave out how he was unaffected by the poisonous snake that bit him?
They left out the mighty hand of God and filled it with superficial huggies and kissies. Boring. The Book of Acts is so much more inspiring than the movie.
It's my fourth time ordering this movie for my family, because every time I invite friends over the house to watch this movie...they end up requesting to watch this life-changing movie. Before you know it, the movie does not return back to me. Anyway, the Apostle Paul movie is a useful resource for outreach purposes. It's a worthy buy. My husband and I enjoy this movie very much.
It was not Scriptural. There were people in the movie that are not found in the book of Acts, Reuben and his fiancee. Why was it necessary to include people in the movie that are not found in Scripture? They were very distracting if you are wanting to share the life of Paul with someone. It was extremely disappointing.
The story of Saul transformation to Paul as a Christian. The writers of the movie did an excellent job. It stayed to the Bible and a few things added. This wonderful story came to life as we see the life of Missionary Paul. The movie held my attention and I was on edge of what would come next.
I have viewed this movie several times. As far as I can tell it is doctrinally sound and provides very good insight into the era and atmosphere of that time as well as presenting the lesson of faith, waiting upon God and trusting in Him.
