Tell us a little about yourself. Well, the book tells a lot about me. I'm the type of person who really likes the going deeper part of relationship w/ Christ. This books title has duel meanings Pathways to Abandon speaks to the pathway I was on personally, where I was heading down a road of abandonment, where I struggled with abandonment, and ultimately could have experience abandonment for eternity but it also speaks to the idea that every man, woman and child is on the Pathway to Abandon themselves, where the struggle is to abandon the lusts of this world in favor of the things that God has for us. The title doesnt make a lot of sense until the reader picks up the book and plows through it.
What was your motivation behind this project? My motivation in writing this book was initially very personal; I just wanted to get my struggles and issues down on paper. I figured, that if I started to write and recount and relive the experiences I underwent as a youngster and adolescent, then the meaning behind the pain would become obvious. The book was never really intended for publication until a few close friends and family began reading the manuscript and encouraged me to send it to a publisher. The relevant media group was the only publisher I submitted the book to, and they accepted it Through the process of writing this book, I was able to experience a lot of healing myself, and whats more, others have been able to grow and heal as a result of reading my experiences, and thats the best feedback I could ever receive. Because the book is gritty and candid, and because my portrayal of the sin was so real, Ive received some not-so-kind feedback from people whose religious spirit was offended. I suppose the proof is in the lives that have been changed for the better. This book has been most effective in prisons, from what Ive been told and a number of people have come to a place where they have allowed themselves to receive forgiveness. God is good!
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that the folks who read this book will be inspired to believe in the power of forgiveness and grace. I hope they find comfort in a lifelong pursuit of real, authentic relationship with God, and I hope that people out there take time to consider their own Pathway of Abandon. We have such a short time on life to really impact this world for good, and I hope this book impacts this world for good.
