Master's Seminary President John MacArthur, and key faculty members, have prepared this insightful handbook for new pastors. These essays issue a call away from the temptation to treat church as a business, but instead to see pastoral ministry as a call to prayer, worship, servanthood and compassion as a humble shepherd of Christ's flock.

This is a good tool for any pastor to remind him of his calling. However, you can tell the slant towards the Southern Baptist view. One issue I have with this book, is that it says anyone who has ever divorced CAN NOT be a pastor. That is a very narrow view. Divorce is not the unforgivable sin. Paul was converted as Saul who helped capture and murder Christians. Yet someone who has a divorce is not available to be a pastor? What about God's grace and forgiveness? Sorry but I believe that view is not right nor is it biblical. We have to remember that GOD is the one who picks someone for the calling of the office of pastor. Not John MacArthur. My suggestion is pick out the best parts and the personal opinions, leave them alone.
